JESS BENJAMIN's imagination was trained in the irrigation ditches on the 100th Meridian and is one of the last to be educated in a two-room schoolhouse. Benjamin now lives in Omaha and has gained a balanced perspective on the nation's water and drought issues. Benjamin received her BA from Hastings College in 2001 and her MFA from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 2008. She returned to Omaha the same year to pursue her research and to acquire affordable studio space where she could continue creating large-scale ceramic sculpture. Benjamin has exhibited her artwork at the Amarillo Museum of Art, Ellen Noel Art Museum, Joslyn Art Museum, and private galleries throughout the Midwest. In 2013, the Nebraska Arts Council awarded her an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant. BRENDAN BISHOP is a multidisciplinary artist working in ceramics, wood, and metal. He works in between studios in Nebraska and Costa Rica. Ceramics found him at age five and never let go, a connection that still shapes how he approaches every material today. His work asks a quiet but persistent question: What does a material remember? Through hand-built sculptural forms, Bishop captures evidence of force, compression, erosion, and arrested motion, holding the tension between resistance and change. His current body of work, Witness Marks, explores time as force through three threads: collapse, duration, and residue. Impact studies hold the instant of collision. Vertical totems suspend the moment between balance and collapse. Form studies trace what remains. RICHARD CHUNG is a figurative sculptor based in Omaha, NE. CHRISTOPHER GRYDER is a sculptor living in Roanoke, VA. His path has consistently gravitated towards a visceral engagement with form-making, whether in architecture school at Tulane or in the Arizona desert at the architecture laboratory known as Arcosanti. Initially exploring the sculptural possibilities of earthen materials, he found a medium of choice and let his activities range from the scale of ceramic houses, as demonstrated by Nader Khalili at CalEarth in Southern California, to small-scale clay creations while managing the ceramics studio at Arcosanti in Central Arizona. Earning an MFA at RISD, he made breakthroughs working with clay and earthen mixtures, which led to his current body of ceramic work. MASSA LEMU is a visual artist and writer whose multidisciplinary artistic practice takes the form of text, performance, and multimedia installations that are concerned with the contradictions of migration and the psychological effects of immaterial, flexible, and mobile capitalism on the post-colonial subject. LEE EMMA RUNNING is an artist based in Omaha, NE, who creates monumental public installations on windows and arresting objects using cast iron, enamel, glass, bone, and handmade paper. Running was a Foundry Resident in the Arts/Industry program at Kohler Co. in 2023 and 2024. ASHLEY VAK is a sculptural bookbinder from Omaha, NE. She discovered her passion for art and design early on, drawing inspiration from her father's precision as a mapmaker for the city of Omaha and her mother's creative skills. After high school, she pursued her foundation studies at the Kansas City Art Institute before returning to complete her BFA in Book Arts at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she was awarded the Bertha Mengedoht-Hatz Artistic Excellence Scholarship.
