A Falconry Quail Experience with Tyler Sladen

A Half-Day Evening Hunt for Four Guests

Step into the timeless world of North Florida wild quail hunting with an experience that few will ever have the opportunity to enjoy. You and three guests will join renowned photographer, writer, and falconer Tyler Sladen for an exclusive evening quail hunt at Livingston Place in Greenville, Florida-or, for an especially personal experience, Tyler will bring the hunt to your own private sporting property.

Tyler will provide the setters and personally guide the hunt, sharing his expertise in the centuries-old tradition of hunting quail with a trained bird of prey. Working in concert with the dogs, falcon, and hunters, every moment depends on instinct, timing, and an extraordinary connection between man, dog, and raptor. This is quail hunting at its most intimate and authentic: walking the field, watching a setter freeze on point, feeling the anticipation as a covey holds in the cover, and witnessing the spectacular moment when dog and raptor work together.

The hunt will take place during the final hours of daylight, when the landscape is at its most beautiful. The outing will last approximately 2-3 hours, allowing guests to experience the hunt without distraction and at the natural pace of the field. Tyler Sladen has built his work around authentic moments in the sporting life-the quiet intensity of a dog on point, the sudden rise of a covey, a shotgun breaking open in the fading light, and the people whose lives are intertwined with the land and the traditions of the field. Throughout this extraordinary experience, Tyler will bring that same eye and appreciation to the hunt.

The setting could not be more fitting. At Livingston Place, guests will enjoy the opportunity to hunt in the heart of North Florida quail country. Alternatively, guests may choose to host Tyler and the experience on their own private property, creating a truly bespoke hunt on land that is part of their own sporting tradition. This is more than a hunt. It is an invitation into a disappearing sporting tradition, shared with an accomplished falconer and photographer, in one of the South's most remarkable quail landscapes-or on your own.

Scheduling based upon a mutually agreeable date in the first week of February 2028. A hunt on private property is subject to agreement on suitable habitat selection.

Kevin's Plantation Collection 20 Gauge Shotgun

The Kevin's Plantation Collection 20 Gauge is an elegant, finely finished over/under shotgun that combines classic upland styling with the craftsmanship and attention to detail expected from Kevin's Poli. Built as a refined field gun, this example is distinguished by its exceptional upgraded walnut stock, giving the shotgun rich figure, depth, and character.

Handcrafted in Italy by Fratelli Poli exclusively for Kevin's, the Plantation reflects the character of a true bespoke sporting gun.

The relationship with Kevin's

This is particularly relevant to the Kevin's Plantation Collection. Kevin Kelly discovered the Poli workshop in Gardone after previously having special-production guns made by Beretta. According to Shotgun Life, the relationship with the Poli brothers led to the creation of the Kevin's Plantation Collection around 2011. Poli had the ability to produce both individual bespoke guns and small runs of high-grade over/under and side-by-sides to Kevin's specifications.

That relationship became substantial. A recent Shooting Sportsman article describes Poli as a small custom shop now operated by Antonio and Tiziano and says the Kevin's side-by-sides and over/unders account for a large portion of Poli's production.

That makes a Kevin's Poli gun somewhat different from a normal private-label shotgun. Kevin's establishes the specifications and character of the gun, while the Poli brothers and their craftsmen in Gardone carry out the traditional Italian gunmaking, fitting and hand finishing.

The premium walnut stock receives an extensive traditional finishing process and is hand-rubbed with more than 30 coats of polish, producing a deep, lustrous finish that brings out the natural grain and figure of the XXX-grade wood. The stock is also hand checkered, adding both traditional visual appeal and a secure, comfortable gripping surface. Its classic Prince of Wales grip complements the graceful lines of the gun and provides excellent handling characteristics.

This Plantation Collection is built on an over/under action chambered for 3-inch 20-gauge shells. A single trigger provides straightforward operation, while interchangeable chokes allow the shotgun to be configured for a variety of upland and sporting applications.

The receiver features an elegant coin finish, creating a refined contrast against the deeply polished upgraded walnut. With a 14 3/4-inch length of pull and a well-balanced weight of 6.30 pounds, the Plantation Collection is light and responsive in the hands while retaining the smooth feel expected from a premium field shotgun.

Winning bidder may exchange for a lady's model.
