Mark Nadler is an internationally acclaimed singer, pianist, tap-dancer, and comedian whose career spans Broadway, off-Broadway, cabaret, and concert halls worldwide. His off-Broadway hit I'm a Stranger Here Myself earned a Drama Desk nomination and the 2013 Nightlife Award, and he has performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra and as a soloist with symphonies across the country. This beautiful salt glazed stoneware ovoid jug, made by the Swan and States Pottery at the end of Wall Street in Stonington Borough, dates from between 1826 and 1835. At that time, the pottery was being run by Ichabod B. States, grandson of the first potter, Adam States, and Joshua Swan. During this time, the pottery produced pots-jars, pitchers, jugs, and churns all stamped with the firm's name, like this one. Our most popular program at Historic Stonington! Learn the history of your home from its indigenous beginnings to the present day.

Our house histories include a complete chain of title, social history of the people who have lived in your home, and a plaque that bears the name of the individual(s) who built it.

This is a fascinating way to learn about your house, but also about the history of the town. House must have been built before 1950.

In the summer of 2023, Mystic Seaport Artist in Residence, Patrick O'Brien, created a painting of the Battle of Stonington using all the newest research that had been conducted in recent years. O'Brien spent time in the archives of Historic Stonington and interviewed local experts . New resources included recently digitized ships logs from British archives and other resources that held some discoveries about a new ship and damages sustained.

This painting sold the very evening it was revealed, but Historic Stonington was able to commission a small number of giclee prints from the artist. Each print is numbered and signed by Patrick O'Brien and provides a vivid historical interpretation of one of the most seminal battles in the War of 1812.

Print is 29" x 18.5" unframed.

As the centuries passed, man's conquest of the sea was reflected by the progressive variety of figureheads. Mystic Seaport houses an extensive collection of these artifacts, and this work places the carvings within the context of 19th-century woodcarving and craftsmanship.
• Silent Pilots: Figureheads in Mystic Seaport Museum by Georgia W. Hamilton, 1984 - In this book, Georgia Hamilton has researched, described, and illustrated forty figureheads in the collection of Mystic Seaport; these range from the well known and positively identified to those with traditional but unverified attributions and those with unknown provenances. The Grand Hotel Brun was Bologna's most prestigious luxury hotel of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Operating out of the historic 15th-century Palazzo Ghisilieri on Via Ugo Bassi, it featured 140 rooms equipped with running water and electric lighting. It hosted legendary historical figures until its destruction in 1943.

In 1906 Edith Holden wrote her Nature Notes which, when published in 1977 as The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, captured the imagination of the reading public all over the world. In this book, Ina Taylor has brought together a unique collection of photographs, paintings and mementoes of the Holden family which tell the story of Edith's life, and the background against which she developed her talents.
