Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited currently partners with the Teton County School District to offer the Adopt-a-Trout program, where students follow real tagged trout throughout the Snake River watershed while learning about trout biology, watershed connectivity, and the scientific method. JHTU volunteers spend approximately nine classroom days and two field days each year helping students connect directly with local rivers and fisheries.
With additional funding, we hope to expand these efforts by integrating Trout in the Classroom, developing updated lesson plans with new fisheries data, and creating new opportunities for youth engagement through fly tying lessons, Iron Fly competitions, and elementary afterschool fishing programs. Your support will help inspire the next generation of anglers, scientists, and conservationists in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
