Gramps helped build the interstates after fighting in the Pacific theater in World War 2. Papa Ray was a farmer and introduced integration in our home county, fielding anonymous death threats from locals and phone calls of assistance from Gov. Maddox. Dad worked for DFACS and Mom worked for the Technical University system.

I've been a radio DJ, an RA, a Middle/High school art teacher, a sailor on a gambling boat, a sign maker, an antique restorer, a bellhop (hated it), a parking officer, a picture framer, a pizza man, and a pop slinger. All the while I have made art; Dad always says "Support your art until it can support you!"

I grew up on Warner Brothers cartoons, early Nintendo, Liquid Television, and anime. Then I grew up to love Brian Eno, Moebius, James Burke, and Modernist painting. There are others. I was forced into freelancing by the COVID 19 pandemic. It was an unanticipated benefit of the times, but here I am!

Jamaal Barber is a creative, imaginative soul born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina. In 2013, after seeing a screen printing demo at a local art store, Jamaal started experimenting with printmaking, making it his primary focus. His woodcuts and mixed-media prints illustrate the new Folio Society special edition of The Underground Railroad written by Colson Whitehead. Jamaal recently participated in the MTV/Smithsonian Channel art competition show The Exhibit. He has also worked for Twitter, the New York Times, Penguin Random House, Black Art in America, and Emory University.

In 2004, Jamaal moved to Atlanta, GA, with his wife and two children.

Mattiel Brown is a songwriter, musician, and occasional linocut printmaker living in Florence, Italy. She is originally from Atlanta and wrote three critically-acclaimed albums while living there between the years of 2015-2022. When she's not touring or recording music in the studio, she explores themes of ancient folklore and the divine feminine with her large-scale linocut prints. This print, "Taking Up Serpents," is an expression of feminine power and strength in the face of adversity. The feminine figure in this print expresses a direct confrontation against the distractions and challenges of a modern patriarchal society, while also referencing imagery from the ancient world. "Im Gras lauert immer eine Schlange" translated from German: "There is always a snake lurking in the grass."

Katy Beltran is a Latinx artist from Bogota, Colombia, based in Atlanta, GA since 2016. Her work is part of the City of Atlanta's permanent art collection and has been exhibited internationally across the United States, South America, and Europe. This year, she is one of the participating artists in the Every Woman Biennial 2026 in New York City. Beltran earned an MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta) and is a certified XR designer through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2015, she founded Museo Nueva Memoria (The New Memory Museum) in Colombia, a nonprofit using art and photography to honor the life narratives of at-risk communities. As a creative director, she has collaborated with organizations including Emory University, Black Voters Matter, and SisterLove, Inc., supporting initiatives that challenge systemic discrimination, advance gender justice, and address the impacts of the HIV epidemic. Her artistic language is grounded in women's rights, bodily autonomy, and collective memory, exploring intimate human dramas with a focused lens on the feminine body and the soul.

Jasmin Warnock is a British Immigrant, raised in Mississippi, who is now living in Atlanta. Growing up in the deep south, the environments in which she has lived have heavily impacted her work as a biracial black queer woman. She uses her work and printmaking as a vessel in order to portray the process of grappling with her identity. This portrayal also seeks to foster connection with others who have similar experiences. As a graduate of Georgia State University, Jasmin studied Marketing and minored in Studio Art, with experience in digital and art marketing as well as arts administration. Her printmaking practice is centered around building community and creating accessible learning environments. As a working artist, Jasmin has had the opportunity to expand her practice through residencies, including the 2025 Emerging Artist residency at Atlanta Printmakers Studio and the 2026 Winter Residency at Penland School of Craft. She is currently the Exhibitions Manager at The Bakery Atlanta.
