Maggie is 20 years old and is a dromedary camel.

Dromedary Camel Facts:
- Can be up to 5.5-7.5 ft tall and weighing from 650-1,500 lbs
- Dromedary camels are a domesticated species; Bactrian camels are still a wild species.
- Their hump does not store water. It is a reservoir of fat, which acts as an energy reserve for long, food-scarce journeys.
- Their feet are designed for sand. They can close their nostrils to stop sand and have long eyelashes. They also have thick, leathery lips for eating thorny food.
- Mac and Maggie like to have us hose down the backs of their back legs in summer because that's where their major veins are, and it helps them cool down better.
