On June 6, 2026, Orange County Public Schools will host the 6th Annual Central Florida Homeless Education Summit. The Summit focuses on building awareness among educators and community agencies in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties about homeless education law, rights, and resources to support our neediest student population. Training in homeless education programs is the first and one of the most impactful steps to ensure our students have stability in education, even when stability at home is impossible.

The first year of the Central Florida Homeless Education Summit was in 2021.  That year, Orange County Public Schools identified 3,934 students in housing transition.  Over the last 4 years, the number of students experiencing homelessness has mored than doubled with 8,830 students identified in the 2024-2025 school year.  Building awareness about homeless education among educators and community members was vital to increasing identification and providing resources to our homeless students.

In 2024, almost 700 educators and community members attended the Summit, impacting over 21,000 students in the 2024-2025 school year.
