The call came in, and it was a race against time. Rhapsody was in Texas, dangerously close to being euthanized at an overcrowded shelter
that could not provide the extensive medical care she needed. Thanks to the support of Stray Rescue's community, the answer was "yes," and Rhapsody was given a chance.

Officer Ottengheime, who works closely with Stray Rescue, volunteered her day off to help transport Rhapsody to safety. When they arrived, Rhapsody's injuries were heartbreaking. She had a massive third-degree burn covering much of her lower back, along with burns on her paw pads. No one knew exactly what had happened to her, but it was clear she had suffered terribly. On top of her painful injuries, she was also battling heartworm disease.

Despite everything, Rhapsody remained incredibly gentle and calm. She underwent daily bandage changes, wound cleanings, and laser
treatments to help heal her severe burn. Even in the chaos of her treatments, Rhapsody's spirit shone through. She was a silly, endearing, belly rub-loving girl who wanted all of the attention she could possibly have.

Rhapsody is currently living an amazing life in a foster home while she completes her intensive medical care, and she will soon be ready to find the loving family she deserves.

In September 2025, Murray was found roaming a neighborhood in terrible condition-extremely thin, covered in painful, ruptured tumors, and likely suffering for quite some time on his own. Concerned neighbors had been trying to help, and when rescuers arrived, he was safely trapped and rushed to the clinic. Despite everything, Murray showed just how sweet he was right away.

Veterinarians diagnosed him with a high-grade mast cell tumor, and due to the size and location, it couldn't be surgically removed. At around 10 years old, he was considered a hospice case. But instead of giving up, his team started him on antibiotics, steroids, and oral chemotherapy-and he responded incredibly well. His tumors began to shrink, and his comfort quickly improved.

Murray was placed in a loving hospice foster home, where he finally got to experience the comfort and care he had been missing. Surrounded by love, he gained weight, relaxed, and let his happy, goofy personality shine. In an amazing turn, one of his tumors even disappeared without surgery, leaving everyone in awe of his progress.

Though he was still battling cancer, Murray continued to fight with strength and joy. Once alone and suffering on the streets, he became a symbol of resilience and hope, showing just how powerful love and care can be.

On March 16th, Murray peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge surrounded in love by his foster mom and his adoring medical team. His cancer had returned, and we knew it was time to let him go. We are so grateful that Murray was able to live six months of his life filled
with more love than he had ever known. We will see you again, Murray. Thank you for trusting us and changing us
for the better.
