The Nordic Utah Alliance (TUNA) Yurt Rental

Uinta National Forest (near the Mirror Lake Highway,) Utah

Rent The Utah Nordic Alliance (TUNA) yurt in the Uinta National Forest for two nights! Good for weekend stays. Includes a guide that will bring the party to the yurt, show them the amenities, and depart. (Participants will receive a yurt certification that allows them to rent the yurt again without a guide.)

The Utah Nordic Alliance (TUNA) has operated a yurt in the Uinta National Forest for over twenty years under a permit issued by the Kamas Ranger District. TUNA was the original permittee in this national forest. The Forest Service has allowed TUNA to keep the yurt up, all year round and on a permanent platform. Thus, the yurt can be used year-round for such activities as hiking, camping, mountain biking, horse packing, skiing, etc.

The original TUNA yurt was located in the North Fork. In 1999 the yurt was moved to its current location along the Norway Flats road, approximately 11 miles north out of Kamas on the Mirror Lake Highway. The yurt overlooks a spectacular view of Boulder Creek with its beaver ponds, summer trails and excellent ski slopes (slopes range in the 30-35 degree range). A wonderful place to spend time ski touring, turning, adventuring and enjoying the backcountry. The yurt is regularly used by families with children.

The TUNA yurt is 18 feet in diameter with a covered deck/storage area. It can comfortably sleep 8 (the maximum size party allowed). It is equipped with 8 bunks, a wood stove and a supply of cut and split wood, a propane cooking stove and lamps, and cooking equipment (pots and utensils). There is a year-round spring 100 feet from the yurt.

Waterpocket Adventure Company Guided Tour in Capitol Reef National Park

This private trip will get you away from most of the park's visitors and into the Cathedral Valley. I will pick you up in Torrey (tours start at 8:00 am and 2:00 pm) and we'll drive through Capitol Reef National Park then pass by Caineville Mesa and colorfully striped hills on twisty back roads to the geologic oddity, Glass Mountain a truly unique formation that's always a hit! A short drive to the Iconic and awe-inspiring Temples of the Sun and Moon where we can walk around the giant monoliths jutting up from the valley floor and get some memorable photos and experiences. On the way back we'll see the beautiful Queen of the Wash and I'll show you dinosaur bones still in the rock and ancient sea shells before returning you to our start point.

Moonscape Overlook (5-6 Hours)

A private tour of two Utah hidden gems and top 10 lists of Utah destinations, Bentonite Hills, and Moonscape Overlook, popularized by Instagram and a must-do visit to Southern Utah. A knowledgeable, professional guide will drive you through the back-roads in a comfortable air conditioned and heated 4X4 SUV while talking with you about the amazing geology and history of the Capitol Reef area. Moonscape Overlook is a cliff-side viewpoint overlooking a vast and intricately detailed lunarscape unlike any other. We'll admire the views from the top of a mesa edge, get some breathtaking photos and just take in the moment. Your tour will continue along 4Ã-4 roads past the iconic and inspiring Factory Butte to the Martian-like Bentonite Hills, a softly sculpted and rainbow-colored landscape comparable to the surface of Mars! A truly unique and beautiful experience. If you have a drone this is the perfect place to use it for some incredible photo opportunities. After the Bentonite Hills we'll work our way back to the starting point, passing through the Fremont River and back to your pickup location. (This tour can be modified to see the Temples of the Sun and Moon instead of the Bentonite Hills). Temples of the Sun and Moon can also be added to the tour at checkout (adding the Temples to the tour requires a 7:00 am start).This is a 5-6 hour tour and for photographers and lovers of light it's recommended as a sunrise tour to take advantage of the most dramatic lighting at Moonscape Overlook. If getting up early isn't your thing we can certainly start later, 8:00 am is the usual time for morning tour departures, afternoon tours usually start at 2:00 pm. A Sleigh Ride For Two

Let National Elk Refuge Sleigh Rides take you on an incredible adventure. When you climb into a horse-drawn sleigh that takes you for a ride onto the National Elk Refuge, you will find yourself in the middle of a western adventure unlike any other. This century-long tradition continues to be a one-of-a-kind wildlife activity. It's an amazing and exciting way to discover first-hand new things about the area's wildlife. As you venture across the Refuge to the sounds of snow crunching beneath the horses' feet, you will encounter sights that can only be found on the National Elk Refuge.
