Stella Nall is a Montana based multimedia artist and poet. She is a First Descendant of the Crow Tribe, and is involved in the community of Missoula as a member of the WMCI Indigenous Art Advisory Committee, by playing in the local band Cry Baby, and by frequently sharing her work through exhibitions, publications, murals, and interactive installations which invite participation. She is currently an exhibiting artist with the Art Mobile of Montana, and her work lives in numerous public and private collections, including The Montana Museum of Art and Culture, The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, and The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts.

"I Love Pottery!" - Potsketch by Ryan Nickel

Richard Nickel is an artist, educator, writer, and member of the Studio Potter advisory board. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally. He has been published in several books on contemporary ceramics and in art journals. As a designer, Nickel has created posters for Crafted Indie Arts and Crafts Market, a cover illustration for Studio Potter, ceramic awards for Skutt Kilns, illustrations for Alt Daily, and animations for WHRO HealthBeat. As a ceramic sculptor, he has pieces in numerous private collections. Nickel has designed and painted murals in Rochester, New York; Niagara Falls, New York; Norfolk, Virginia; and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Jill Oberman is currently the Curator and Gallery Coordinator at the Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge, Montana. Moving to Red Lodge from Carbondale, Colorado, Jill recently worked as a studio artist and as an Educator at the Aspen Art Museum, and served two terms as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). Jill earned her MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology School for American Crafts, and her BA from Hamilton College. She has been a resident artist at numerous art institutions, notably the Anderson Ranch, the Archie Bray Foundation, and Arrowmont School for Arts and Crafts. Past employment includes work as the Executive Director of the Carbondale Clay Center, the Executive Director of the Clay Studio of Missoula, the Programs and Administration Director at the Archie Bray Foundation, and the Studio Manager of the ceramics program at the Anderson Ranch Art Center. While in her studio Jill focuses on creating minimal, architectural ceramic sculptures that have been widely exhibited throughout the United States, as well as sharing her passion of ceramics through conversation with anyone and everyone who will listen.

"Small Fortunes" - Potsketch by Kathleen Herlihy-Paoli

Kathleen Herlihy-Paoli is a painter who lives in Missoula, MT. She grew up in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York City. She moved to Missoula Montana in 1995. She holds a BFA degree from Skidmore College, and studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York. She is a member of White Columns curated artist's registry in NYC, and has worked with several museums and galleries in the US and internationally.

Kathleen is interested in documenting current, historical, and personal events and emotions by painting them on a stylized theater stage. Live theater has always been influential to Herlihy-Paoli. Curtains represent what one chooses to either look upon, or to block from one's view.

She loves recreating in the natural environment that Montana offers, and travels to big cities for a good urban fix as often as possible.

Joseph is a ceramic artist from northeast Wisconsin with a BFA from Utah State University and an MFA from NSCAD University. After residencies at the Clay Studio of Missoula, Jingdezhen's Pottery Workshop & Experimental Factory (China), and the Peninsula School of Art (WI), his work examines vessel abstraction, architecture, geometry, and spatial relationships through modular formalist principles. Joseph is currently the Studio Manager at the Clay Studio of Missoula.

Josh Quick is a native Montanan, illustrator/author of "Montana Quick Facts" and "Yellowstone Quick Facts", drawer of many regional things and graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle. His family moved to Montana in the 70s and built a cabin in the woods leaving young Josh with ample time to fill up sketchbook pages with transformers and dinosaurs which has continued into adulthood minus the rustic drawing space. Josh currently lives and works in Missoula.

"Potsketch"- Potsketch by Jazmine Raymond Penelope

Jazmine has a BA in visual art from Bennington College (2008) and a BS in Ecology and Organismal Biology from the University of Montana (2023). She is a multidisciplinary artist with a specialty in ceramics and biological illustration. She is inspired by the traces of the intimate in human history and the earthly interweavings of humanity and nature. She lives in Missoula, Montana with her partner Lee Stuurmans, their two cats, a garden, too many houseplants, and their new little daughter.

Alison Reintjes first moved to Montana in 2001 for a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena. She has completed additional residencies at Greenwich House Pottery in New York,
Jentel in Wyoming, Mount St. Francis in southern Indiana, and the Clay Studio of Missoula. She has exhibited at the Oregon College of Arts & Crafts, AKAR Gallery, Museu de Cerà mica de l'Alcora in Spain, ASU Ceramic Research Center, Lill Street Art Center and the Northern Clay Center.

Brandon Reintjes has concentrated most aspects of his life on creating art and celebrating art made by others. Though he works as Senior Curator at the Missoula Art Museum, he maintains a regular studio practice. He received his undergraduate degree in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MA in curatorial and critical studies from the University of Louisville.

Karl Schwiesow is an interdisciplinary artist who works in a variety of media. He has a background in carpentry and furniture design, sculpture, ceramics, a variety of 2-dimensional media, including photography. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Sierra Nevada College and a Masters of Fine Art from the University Of Montana. He has been an artist in residence at a variety of prestigious ceramic artist residencies including the Red Lodge Clay Center, Sonoma Community Center, and the Archie Bray Foundation. Karl is teaching a variety of fine art classes at the University of Montana.

Kelly Seitz is an artist and educator working in Missoula Montana, and the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Clay Studio of Missoula. Kelly received a BFA in Ceramics and licensure to teach from the University of Montana in 2019. It is their passion to make art accessible to everyone. Having grown up in a low income family and a part of the LGBT+ community, they especially strive for young people from struggling communities to have the chance to express themselves and explore their identities through the arts. In their work, Kelly loves to toy with visual storytelling and highly detailed imagery. There's always more than meets the eye at first glance.

Richard Shaw was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute where he received his BFA in 1965. He completed his MFA at the University of California at Davis in 1968. He began teaching at the San Francisco Art institute in 1966 where he taught for twenty years. He recently retired from teaching at the University of California at Berkeley where he taught ceramics and drawing. One of two National Endowments Grants allowed him to explore a photo silkscreen method of reproducing decals and allowed him to work with a professional silkscreen artist, perfecting ceramic transfers. Richard has been a resident artist at Shigaraki Cultural Ceramic Park in Japan, the Manufacture National de Sevres in Paris, the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine, and the Peter Voulkos Fellowship at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana. He was elected as a fellow of the American Crafts Council in 1998, Honorary Member of NCECA (the National Council of Education in Ceramic Arts) in 2010 and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts Legends Award 2011. His work is collected in both private and public collections nationally and internationally. Public collections include the Whitney Museum of American Art, The San Francisco Museum of Art, The Taipei Museum of Modern Art, The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and the Victoria Albert Museum.

Kelli Sinner received an MFA in Ceramics from Penn State University and a BFA in Ceramics from Utah State University. Before moving to Montana, Kelli was a Professor of Art at Minnesota State University Moorhead, teaching ceramics, papermaking, exhibitions, and design.
Kelli has completed artist residencies at the Zentrum fur Keramik, Berlin, Germany; Penland School of Craft, Penland, North Carolina; Red Lodge Clay Center, Red Lodge, Montana; and The Clay Studio of Missoula, Missoula, MT.

Kelly Stevenson has a BFA from Montana State University and an MFA from Georgia State University. After three years of teaching ceramics as an Assistant Professor at Berry College in Georgia, she returned to her beloved Montana roots as an artist-in-residence at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena. Kelly has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally, has works included in private and public collections, and is featured in a handful of prominent publications. In 2021, Kelly and her mother-ceramic artist Marie Stevenson-opened Teslow Art Center in Livingston, MT.

Fourth and fifth generation Montanans, mother-daughter team, Marie and Kelly Stevenson have a combined 60 years of ceramic experience. In May of 2021, the Stevenson ladies brought their years-long dream of sharing their passion for the ceramic arts, to life in Livingston, MT by opening Teslow Arts Center, a community-based, teaching arts center. Kelly and Marie chose to name their endeavor, Teslow Art Center, to celebrate their familial tie to the iconic Livingston landmark: the Teslow Grain Elevator. Teslow is Marie's maiden name, and her Grandfather and Father were the creators, owners, and stewards of these celebrated Montana structures.

A second generation born and raised Missoulian, Heather Shibahn Stockton spent most of her youth being encouraged to explore, learn, and create art in the mountains that surrounded her parents' home. With continued support from her family and friends, Heather earned a BA in Fine Arts, an MFA in Media Arts with an emphasis in Integrated Digital Media, a K-12 State of Montana Teaching License through The University of Montana. She is currently in her 7th year serving as Operations Executive for the Zootown Arts Community Center. Her spare time is spent exploring the nearby mountains and water with her husband Sam, and pups Larry Walker & Peter Forsberg.

Lee Stuurmans is a real human boy, who resents any attempt by computers to improve his writing. When Lee Stuurmans is being an artist, he recognizes that he has no innate ability to render anything by hand, and must instead, heap process on top of process as each ensuing step further removes his hand from the finished product. The way God intended. Is this so different from using AI to create art? Yes. Yes it is. For when AI is used to make art it debases all of humanity, enriches the wealthy, and impoverishes the skilled working class. Whereas when Lee Stuurmans chooses to make art, he only debases and impoverishes himself, which is a clear moral victory over the former.

"Try Just A Little Bit More" - Potsketch by Monica Thompson

Monica Thompson lives and works in Missoula. She studied Fibers and Graphic Design at the University of Michigan and Textiles at the Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC, where she was awarded the Edwina Bringle Scholarship for a student showing excellence in textiles. She has exhibited in solo and juried group exhibitions throughout Montana and the northwest, including at the Paris Gibson Museum of Art, the Montana Museum of Art and Culture, and the Yellowstone Art Museum. In 2025 her work was featured in The New York Times as "art to see" at museums and galleries across the United States. Thompson teaches Elementary art in the Missoula County Public Schools, and was voted the Pacific Region Elementary Art Teacher of the Year for 2026 by the National Art Education Association

"For me, art is all about storytelling and connection. I love printmaking because it's an accessible way to share ideas-it's affordable, easy to reproduce, and makes it possible to reach more people. Whether through screen printing, mono printing, stamping, or relief techniques, I enjoy layering colors, textures, and images to create playful, thought-provoking work. I focus on using non-toxic, eco-friendly materials, because I believe creativity and sustainability should go hand in hand.

In 2025, I founded M Press - A print studio in Missoula, Montana that offers a creative space where artistry and sustainability meet. Beyond the studio, I'm passionate about making the arts welcoming and accessible to everyone. I've spent over a decade curating exhibitions, leading workshops, and building community through creative programming. My work often features whimsical characters and narratives that explore themes of connection, resilience, and belonging-because I believe art should be both meaningful and fun.

At the heart of it all, I love bringing people together through art. Whether it's mentoring emerging artists, organizing community events, or hosting hands-on workshops, my goal is to create spaces where creativity thrives, ideas are shared, and everyone feels inspired to make something of their own."

Shalene Valenzuela was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She received a BA in Art Practice at the University of California at Berkeley and an MFA in Ceramics from California College of Arts and Crafts. She has participated in artist residencies at the Archie Bray Foundation, The Clay Studio of Missoula, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and the LH Project and has taught at Flathead Valley Community College, University of Montana, Oregon College of Art and Craft, and various art centers in Montana and California. Shalene has been a guest artist and speaker at several art centers, colleges, and universities and her work has been featured in many group and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. She currently serves as the executive director at the Clay Studio of Missoula. Shalene is the recipient of the Artist's Innovation Award in Ceramics (2013) and an ARPA Grant (2021) from the Montana Arts Council.

Patti Warashina was born in Spokane, Washington. She went to college in Seattle, and received her BFA, and later her MFA from the University of Washington. While in college, she studied with sculptors Robert Sperry, Harold Myers, Rudy Autio, Shoji and Shinsaku Hamada, and Ruth Penington. Her first solo exhibition was in 1962 at the Phoenix Art Gallery. Warashina later married fellow student Fred Bauer, and from 1964 to 1970, exhibited as Patti Bauer. Warashina's work is best known for satire, humor, and dream-state figures, expressed through low-fire polychrome ceramic material. She has received numerous awards for her achievements. Together with fellow artists Robert Sperry, Howard Kotler, and Fred Bauer, Warashina helped to bring national recognition to the department of ceramics at the University of Washington's School of Art in the late 1970's.

"Crybaby Beefcake" - Potsketch by Dagny Walton

Dagny Walton, aka Stray Dog Press, is an illustrator and printmaker. Originally from Colorado, she received her BA in Classical Studies from the University of British Columbia and her MFA in Fine Art from the University of Montana. Dagny applies her background in Classical Studies to a literal interpretation of the myth of the American West and incorporates themes and visuals from Greco-Roman mythology in her work. Her work explores the inheritance of stolen land, the industrial exploitation of the landscape, and the deification of the cowboy archetype. She also examines the interplay between human ambition and natural entropy: the permanent consequences our actions have on the land, and the chaotic nature of the environment that threatens our own existence.

"Missoula Valley Sunset IV" - Potsketch by Teresa Garland Warner

After balancing a medical practice and painting for 30 years, Teresa turned to art full time in 2009. Based in Missoula, she has shown locally at Cassens Fine Art (with solo shows in 2019 and 2025), Dana, Radius, MAM, and Paws Up. Nationally she juried into Salon International, National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 (Receiving a Merit Award); Oil Painters of America 2020 Western Regional Exhibition, American Artists Professional League 92nd Grand National Exhibition 2020 at Salmagundi Club in New York City, Brinton 101 in 2022 at Brinton Museum, Wyoming, and Sears Museum (Utah) Annual Invitational in 2025, 2026. Art Renewal Center juried one of her paintings as finalist and two more as semi-finalists in the 17th ARC International Salon in 2024. In 2025 ARC International Salon selected 2 paintings for finalist and 3 more for semifinalist. In 2026 she received a Finalist Award in Plein Air Category of 18th International Art Renewal Center Salon Competition.

Eliza Weber's work explores interconnectedness and materiality in a variety of mediums including ceramic, paper, found objects, and textiles. Through considerations of duality and context, with explorations in emotion and play, individual pieces and installations become abstracted reflections of the world around us. Influenced by the curation of domestic places and the management of environments, interior and exterior overlap, acknowledging the ways in which objects, the self, and others occupy space.

Eliza Weber completed her MFA at Arizona State University and BFA at The University of Montana. She has completed short residencies at Medalta in Alberta, Canada and The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China. Eliza was also an Artist in Residence at Pottery Northwest in Seattle, Washington. Returning home, she was Director of Education at the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, Montana. She served on the boards of NCECA and the Ceramics Research Center, presently serving on the NCECA Green Task Force. Eliza is currently a Long-Term Resident at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana.

Kaitlynn Webster is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the links between time, our relationships to one another, and the self. She is fascinated by and devoted to collaboration. She does not know how her camera works and frankly, she likes it better that way. She completed her BA at Fresno State, and went on to earn an MFA from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a certificate in curation from the School for Curatorial Studies, Venice. She now works at The Clay Studio of Missoula and lives in a very, very small commune.

Adelheid West found home in Missoula's Northside neighborhood in 2009 after a long drive from Stillwater, Oklahoma. She raises food and a family, and turns pots at the Clay Studio of Missoula. Heidi recently held elected office as Ward 1 City Council Representative. Heidi has BAs in Political Science and Studio Art with minors in German and Horticulture as well as a MS in Plant and Soil Science, all from Oklahoma State University.

"Potsketch"- Potsketch by Janet Whaley

Janet Whaley's images on her hand-painted porcelain works depict personal and traditional mythologies - both the realms of the imagined and not imagined. She explores the subjects of aging, birth and rebirth, and relationships, blending her own personal experiences with myths and fairy tales and images from nature. Born in Idaho and raised in Missoula, Janet started her art studies at the University of Montana in 1966. After a time, she switched gears and began a twenty-six-year career in nursing. During this time, she continued her art studies and finished her MFA in ceramics from the University of Montana in 1996. She now maintains her studio practice in her Missoula home.

R David Wilson was born and raised in the Flathead Valley. Since early childhood he has been making art and continues to expand his passion in several mediums. Primarily a self-taught artist, David's artistic vision has been greatly affected by years spent in Latin America. His Impressionist oeuvre is divided between works that document the Missoula topography and motifs that draw from Mexico, Central, and South America. Scenes are generally punctuated with vivid color and characteristic impasto texture. He is represented in several Montana galleries and has often been part of invitational shows in the Pacific Northwest as well as in central Mexico. His works are mostly in the hands of private collectors in the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.

Derick Wycherly is an enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Rocky Boy, Montana and a visual artist who specializes in printmaking and papermaking. Derick received an MFA in 2022 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Printmaking and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design with a concentration in Film/Animation/Video in 2011. Between degrees he worked at Harlan & Weaver, a renowned intaglio studio in New York City. Derick's prints on handmade paper can be found in Hand Papermaking's Paper Portfolio #14, "The Language of Color". Derick is currently the Associate Curator and Collections Manager of the Montana Museum of Art and Culture in Missoula, MT.

"Potsketch" - Potsketch by Kensuke Yamada

Originally from Japan, Kensuke earned his MFA from the University of Montana in 2009 and a BA from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He has participated in many artist residency programs and visiting artist opportunities, including The Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana, and The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is included in various museum and institutional collections. He is currently an assistant professor at Chico State University in Chico, CA.

Potsketch by Ron Meyers

Ron Meyers holds a 1967 M.F.A. degree in ceramics from the School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology, and B.S. (1956) and M.S. (1961) degrees in art education from State University of New York College at Buffalo. He taught at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC from 1967-1972. He then spent the next 20 years teaching at the University of Georgia in Athens where he retired as Professor Emeritus.

Ron has an extensive history of professional activities within the ceramics community. He has presented numerous workshops and demonstrations in the United States and abroad, most recently at the Lill Street Studio in Chicago, Il, Arrowmont School of Crafts, the Huntington Museum of Art, University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Curaumilla Clay Studio in Chile.

He was the recipient of the National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts Excellence in Teaching Award and the Northern Clay Center's 2008 Regis Masters Award which honors senior artists who have had a major impact on the development of 20th and 21st ceramics in the United States.

Priscilla Mouritzen was born in Cape Town, South Africa. She studied at the School of Art, Durban, South Africa. In 1979 she moved to Denmark where she serves on the board of directors for Guldagergaard, International Ceramic Research Center, and maintains a studio north of Copenhagen. Priscilla's work has been shown at the Museum of Anthropology, Xalapa, Mexico, 20+1 Tozan Kilns, Arizona Presenters Exhibition, and The Clay Studio of Missoula, where she had a solo exhibition in 2006. Most of Priscilla's work is pinched in porcelain clay and wood fired. The scale is intimate, as demanded by the pinching process. The works show a use of pattern that echoes memories of her childhood in Africa.
