Perched beside Church Cove on the first peninsula east of Newport, Sakonnet Golf Club features a breezy, seaside 18-hole course with deep historical roots. Donald Ross reworked the original nine-hole layout from 1899 in 1922, then added a second nine to complete the routing. In 2004, Gil Hanse led a thoughtful restoration that extended the course by over 400 yards and introduced two holes that Ross had originally designed but were never constructed.
