Original painting by Mackenzie Skeen "Snowday" mixed media on canvas 20"x24", framed in gold floater frame. A snow day in the south always brings with it more than expected. This piece is meant to capture the emotions and memories of a family enjoying an unexpected day together. The overall energetic composition evokes the feelings of happiness, movement and beauty. The foundation of ice blue at the center of the painting sets the scene. Everything is created around the snow. The peacefulness of the falling snow outside and chaos but fun of family inside. The joy, the bustle, the friendships, the footprints, the snowballs, and the warm fires that transform our normal routine of the day into unforeseen time together can be seen in this abstract piece. The day is always long but full. Sleepy children and exhausted parents meet the end of a snow day with feelings of gratitude- for the memories made together and for the anticipation of colorful spring days ahead.

This original piece by local artist, Lucy Boland, is sure to delight! Artist Statement: 'My work is an honest commitment to a learning process through visual understanding and peaceful protest. I often use symbolism, color harmonies, vulnerable lines, and truthful narratives in an attempt to spark questions about larger modern themes.' (www.lucyboland.com)
