Hand-painted soccer cleats

Inspired by music, rhythm, and the transformative nature of collage, Amy creates richly textured pieces that weave together hand-painted paper with sentimental materials like album covers and textiles. In this piece she brings that same philosophy to the world of soccer, weaving strips of NSC flags and turf into a rainbow of soundwave-inspired color. The eleven colors represent the eleven players on the field, each moving in harmony like a symphony of coordinated motion.

Valentina hand-embellished a soccer ball using her signature black ink techniques and painted accents. The result is a dynamic, one-of-a-kind piece that turns a familiar object into a work of wonder.

Created by artist Katherine Frensley, this 37" x 22" piece was woven on a loom using pieces of a soccer net and thrifted t-shirts from local schools and soccer teams. The weaving not only symbolizes how lives and events are interwoven but also reflects the shared journey of humanity with its twists, turns, knots, and frays.

Recycling materials and reducing as much waste as possible is a huge priority in Alexis' work and she especially wanted to challenge herself with this piece. She collected off-cut acrylic pieces and vinyl from a local sign shop in Nashville and off cuts of plywood and MDF board from the woodshop at her maker space. She then used a digital sketch to cut the materials down using a laser CNC. The only new material incorporated was the artificial turf. Her concept behind the piece was to give an abstracted bird's eye view of a soccer stadium. Though the use of the material broke out of goal for the project, Alexis felt it was necessary to drive home the visual theme.

Team Building becomes a double entendre: it refers both to the celebratory image of a team in sync and the literal act of creating this piece. The visible gridlines and underpainting left intentionally exposed. These unfinished elements honor the process behind the art, much like the unseen effort behind any great team. Just as a team's cohesion is built through invisible hours of practice, missed passes, and strategy sessions, so too is a painting built square by square: repetitive, often tedious, yet always evolving in the direction of something greater than the sum of its parts.

Artist Reggie Wayne transformed a standard soccer cone into a symbolic gramophone sculpture - reimagining the object as a tool of amplification rather than restriction. The cone, once used to shape movement, becomes a voice - honoring players, culture, and the rhythm of the game. The bottom references the field and foundation of play, the middle has his signature crushed glass finish adding texture, light, and reflective energy to symbolize grit and elevation, and the top is a "record" element representing NSC. This piece is meant to celebrate the voices behind the game - from player to supporter, from drill to performance - and elevate a common object into something worthy of reflection and legacy.

City of God represents Nashville's Geodis Park as a living, breathing movement built on community. A combination of paint, screen-printed imagery, hand drawn additions, and team memorabilia, this collage depicts the spirit of fútbol in its rawest form. Taking inspiration from Nashville's geographic history as well as Brazil's favelas; The artist built a structure that combines the bustle and infrastructure of Brazilian neighborhoods with Nashville's municipal optimism. The final product, a work of art that properly celebrates the culture of fútbol, and Nashville's exponential growth.

"In the Net: Capturing the Spirit of Play and Belonging", an oversized artist's book transforms the soccer net into both material and metaphor. Bound with a piano hinge that incorporates an upcycled Nashville Soccer Club goal net, the work moves beyond a traditional codex into something sculptural and architectural. Its conical form allows every hand-dyed page to remain visible at once, creating a living structure that celebrates teamwork, place, and belonging, showing how the threads of play weave through our community. Pages dyed with black walnut and indigo evoke the textures and colors of Nashville's landscape, while repeated woven motifs honor the interlacing threads of the game and its people. In the Net mirrors the energy of play: constant motion held together by connection. By using the goal net as binding material, the book both literally and symbolically ties its pages into a shared whole, just as soccer binds teammates, fans, and city in the spirit of belonging.
