About the Artist

With over 50 years of experience, Michael Citrino has dedicated his life to ceramics and art education. Trained at California College of Arts and Crafts under Viola Frey and further shaped by his work at Humboldt State University with Lew Merrick, Michael's artistic journey spans decades and continents. He spent 26 years teaching K-12 art in international schools across six countries, building ceramic programs and inspiring students, teachers, and communities alike.

His work ranges from traditional forms to more experimental expressions, always grounded in a sense of curiosity, play, and respect for the creative process. This bowl is a reflection of that philosophy, blending function with artistry in a way that feels both timeless and personal.
