At the site where Blackie Reasor caught his 1975 world-record Hammerhead shark, 14 feet 4 inches long and 703 lbs, we have an open-water swim in the Atlantic Ocean along beautiful Jacksonville Beach, finishing just north of the iconic Jax Beach Lifeguard Station.

There are three distances to choose from again this year. The 1k swim is perfect for someone just starting open water swimming. The 2k is the traditional 1.25-mile swim that has been a standard all these years. We will again offer the 5k swim. All swimmers will receive a finisher medal, with the 5k medal differing slightly.

As always, there will be support kayaks and lifeguards along the way.

This event supports the Volunteer Life Saving Corps and is supported by the City of Jax Beach.

I will provide a training program, register you for the swim, pick you up (locally), and swim with you.

America is fracturing. Deep polarization, toxic rhetoric, and a startling 250% rise in hate crimes have left the nation in a crisis of trust. Bridges to Baghdad tells the story of the "fighting Seabees" and their role in the Iraq War, and how they raised the bar of the legendary "Can Do!" tradition set by their World War II forefathers. The U.S. Navy Seabees are America's premier expeditionary construction force. During Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, they stormed into Iraq along side the First Marine Expeditionary Force (1 MEF). Task organized into three regimental-sized formations under division-level command of Rear Admiral Chuck Kubic, the Seabees maneuvered, built, and fought their way to Baghdad. They advanced through one of the world's harshest environments and against some of the fiercest adversaries they had encountered since Vietnam. During this intense campaign, Seabees carried out their primary missions of building bridges and roads along the attack route, and conducting Civil Military Operations in the face of a cunning, often hidden enemy. They not only built military bridges during the historic march to Baghdad but also cultural bridges during the subsequent reconstruction of a liberated Iraq.
