Autry played guard for the Orange from 1990 to 1994 and ranks fifth in career assists (631) and sixth in career steals (217) in Syracuse program history. After playing for Syracuse, he played professionally in the European League. Autry returned to Syracuse as an assistant coach in 2011 and took over as Head Coach from Jim Boeheim in 2023.
