GOAL

Shawn Morehart, born January 24, 1996, in Little Rock, Arkansas, is a determined and accomplished 30-year-old who has never let challenges define her potential. Living with Down syndrome, speech impairment, and hearing loss, now improved through cochlear implants, Shawn has spent her life working hard to achieve independence and pursue her dreams.

At just three years old, Shawn began receiving speech, physical, and occupational therapy through Easterseals. With early intervention and consistent support, she progressed through school with remarkable success. From elementary through high school, Shawn steadily increased her independence in the classroom, moving from mainstream support to full mainstream inclusion at Central High School. In 2015, she graduated with honors, earning a standing ovation from classmates, teachers, and staff, a powerful testament to her perseverance and spirit.

After high school, Shawn continued building life and career skills through Easterseals' ACCE program at UALR and later through Career in the Center for Training and Wellness program. Today, she proudly works with The CockPit Catering Company at Easterseals, assisting with kitchen operations and snack distribution. Her work reflects her dedication, reliability, and desire to contribute meaningfully to her community.

Outside of work, Shawn leads a full and active life. She plays in the Miracle League Baseball Competitive League and participates in Special Olympics Bowling. She enjoys spending time with her longtime boyfriend, going to movies, dinners, UALR Trojan basketball games, and local theater performances. Family remains central to her life, with camping trips, beach vacations, hiking adventures, and special time with her sister creating lasting memories.

With the continued guidance of Easter Seals therapies and training programs, Shawn has achieved extraordinary milestones. Ongoing support will help her reach her next goal: greater independence and an even brighter future.

Your support helps make that possible.
