Taylor Holmes has been part of our family since he was just 10 days old, when he came to us as a foster child. It didn't take long for us to know he belonged with us forever, and we soon began the adoption process. From the very beginning, Taylor showed remarkable determination. He began therapy at Easterseals when he was just six months old, setting the stage for a life shaped not by limitations, but by perseverance, growth, and possibility.
Taylor walks with a cane and communicates in the ways that work best for him. With context and the support of technology, especially his smartphone, he expresses himself clearly and confidently. Technology has truly been a game changer for Taylor, and it's no surprise that he has become our family's go-to IT expert. He is incredibly intelligent, has an impressive memory, and seems to instinctively understand anything tech-related.
A true people person, Taylor thrives on connection. He loves sports, video games, and spending time with friends. During the week, Taylor proudly attends the Center for Training and Wellness program, where he works toward individual adult skill goals and builds meaningful relationships with his peers. The program celebrates his strengths, encourages his independence, and gives him a place to shine, and Taylor embraces it with enthusiasm.
Several years ago, we explored living options that would best support Taylor's independence and social nature, and we found the perfect fit at the Easterseals Butler Group Home. Butler is home to ten residents, each with their own room, shared meals, and a welcoming common living space. The strong sense of community there suits Taylor beautifully. He spends weekdays at Butler and comes home every Friday through Monday morning, a rhythm that has brought balance, growth, and happiness to his life and to our family.
Easterseals has been a constant and meaningful presence throughout Taylor's journey, and we are deeply grateful for the many services, programs, and opportunities they have provided. Their unwavering support, along with the dedication of the Butler staff, has helped Taylor flourish. Today, Taylor lives a full, vibrant, and connected life, one filled with intelligence, humor, friendship, and unmistakable style, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate all that he is and all that he continues to become.
