A Lovely View of Heaven Bill Alatalo (Billy's Junk) | Original Mixed Media Assemblage | 18" × 24"
This one-of-a-kind original work was created in honor of tonight's performer, Oteil Burbridge, and the musical lineage he carries forward.
Working under the alias Billy's Junk, artist Bill Alatalo is known for mixed media assemblages that explore cultural history through layered visual storytelling, and for this piece, he turned that lens toward music.
A Lovely View of Heaven honors the musicians who shaped Oteil's journey, including those no longer with us, from Colonel Bruce Hampton to Bob Weir, and reflects on how their creative energy lives on through performance, community, and artists like Oteil who continue the tradition.
Alatalo's process begins with photography, translated into graphic design elements that are printed, hand cut, collaged, and painted into a single unified surface. Each piece is built layer by layer, merging design, texture, and paint into one object. He holds a BFA in Painting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has worked as a studio ceramist, mural painter, and graphic designer for over two decades.
Proceeds from the sale of this piece are made in honor of Oteil Burbridge.
