The solitary subject out in the quiet after harvest; weakness in his arms and the tired ache of hope. As the viewer you are forced into the perspective of an onlooker as if you, to the subject, are about to approach.

As I painted this image I was reminded of the lines from a hymn I used to sing, "Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God". These lyrics still pierce my heart, but they've changed over time. More presently He has sought me out when I've been wandering yes, but recently He's sought me with the same kindness when I've been lost within the fold. Where I've been stuck in disappointment, deceit, and resignation to conditions of the heart I've stayed in He noticed me in the field trying to continue in the work but having left home deep within.
