The theme of this season is understanding identity/emotions through artists and their art. We study and practice various art techniques. Students practice emotional regulation, develop confidence, critical thinking, and cognitive growth by exploring ideas, making choices, and communicating feelings visually through the art they create. We used paper marbling for this project. Our materials included: paper, shaving cream, toothpicks, gold leaf, and watercolors. This activity strengthens fine motor skills and visual tracking skills. Using shaving cream makes it a sensory experience that fully engages their whole being. The process encourages a calm meditative state where they are focused, take turns, and experience a sense of accomplishment when they see the results.
