Even in a region with world-class hospitals, many families face poverty, housing and food insecurity, trauma, and higher rates of cardiovascular disease, substance use, and mental health conditions. Since our founding over 4 decades ago, MCC has served over 160,000 families and distributed thousands of essential supplies. Every family deserves the resources, support, and opportunity to thrive-no exceptions. MCC brings together community leaders, institutions, funders, and volunteers to improve health outcomes, and your gift of general operating support for MCC makes this ongoing work possible!
For thousands of Philadelphia families, safe, high-quality care is financially out of reach. Yet the time between pregnancy through age three shapes a child's health, development, and stability for a lifetime.
MCC operates three childcare centers that provide care at no cost to families. Last year, 202 families were enrolled in our evidence-based Early Head Start program. Children and families deserve quality, affordable childcare, and your gift helps MCC continue providing the care that families deserve.
Doulas provide emotional, informational, and physical support before, during, and after birth. Their support can lead to safer, healthier births-especially for Black and Brown families.
At MCC, we run a Doula Network that matches families with support-and a Doula Training Program that strengthens workforce development throughout our region.
Last year, MCC trained 161 doulas and provided doula services to 1,002 families-more than doubled the number of families who received services two years ago. Your gift helps MCC support and expand this work!
At MCC, we pair evidence-based practices with what families tell us they need-then we build programs that respond.
MCC's behavioral health services grew out of supporting families facing perinatal depression and anxiety, substance use, and other challenges. Mental health conditions are a leading contributor to maternal mortality, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are among the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth.
Last year, among participants who began our program at high risk for perinatal depression, 74% were no longer at risk by their final screening. Your gift will strengthen behavioral health support for parents and families.
MCC's Safe Sleep program provides families with a free portable crib, blanket, crib sheet, and safe-sleep education so babies have a safer place to sleep. Safe-sleep practices are shown to reduce infant mortality.
Last year, MCC delivered safe-sleep education and supplies to 589 families. A gift of $250 provides two portable cribs-helping two more families practice safe sleep with their little ones!
MCC is a statewide leader in perinatal and maternal health because we elevate and follow the voices of the communities we serve. Good policy is built with the people it impacts.
One month ago, a Paid Family and Medical Leave bill passed through the House for the first time in Pennsylvania's history! That's progress-but MCC's Policy & Advocacy team is not finished. Pennsylvania deserves a paid leave program like our neighboring states. Your gift will fuel advocacy for Paid Leave for ALL Pennsylvania families.
Many families first connect with MCC for urgently needed essential supplies. Last year alone, we distributed more than 29,000 basic-needs items. To meet families where they are, MCC is installing accessible Community Care Kiosks in trusted community spaces, stocked with free essentials like diapers, tampons, wipes, and condoms.
In just one month since their launch, families have accessed more than 400 supplies from kiosks at MCC's Bristol office and Temple Women & Families Hospital! Your donation helps stock an MCC kiosk with these essential supplies.
