Rainbow Love Sloth's Class Quilt
Ms. Schwadron's class helped construct a class quilt by decorating squares and combining them with other colorful pieces to make blocks that have been sewn into a quilt. The quilt will cover a twin-sized bed.
To reflect the class name--the "Rainbow Love Sloths"--the pieces include all the colors of the rainbow. The blocks were decorated to reflect what each student associates with love. And, the quilt is backed with comfy flannel sheet featuring a calming sloth print.

Inspired by Marimekko's iconic Unikko print, originally designed by Maija Isola in 1964, this joyful class collage celebrates bold creativity through the eyes of our Ice Cream Pandas: Pre-K 4 artists. Unikko, which means "poppy" in Finnish, is known for its oversized, graphic flowers and vibrant color palette. Our students explored that same spirit of fearless design using paper, scissors, glue, and markers to create their own interpretations of the famous pink blooms.
Each child contributed a unique flower, embracing organic shapes, expressive lines, and bright pink and red hues. The result is a dynamic, abstract garden filled with movement, personality, and playful charm. No two flowers are alike, reflecting the individuality and imagination of every young artist. It is both a tribute to a design classic and a celebration of early artistic exploration, making it a vibrant and meaningful addition to any home.
Each student used permanent markers to create a heart-themed drawing on shrinkable plastic paper. They were baked to harden and shrink, then mounted and framed.
Ms. Hagan's Friendly Seahorses Finger Print Plate
Ms. Hagan's kind and friendly seahorses decorated this beautiful ceramic plate by adding their "finger print bubbles" to their class mascot Roger.

Inspired by the pioneering Washington, D.C. artist Alma Thomas - whose luminous mosaic brushstrokes transformed color into pure joy - students in Ms. Richmond's class contributed their own vertical column of paint marks to create this singular, radiant work.
No two strokes are quite alike. Each column pulses with its own rhythm, its own color choices, its own personality. Together, they form something none of these young artists could have made alone. Inspired by the painting "Iris, Tulips, Jonquils, and Crocuses" by artist Alma Thomas, our kindergarten artists created this joyful beaded mobile to celebrate color, pattern, and movement. Just as Thomas used vibrant blocks of color to capture the beauty of flowers in bloom, students carefully selected and strung bright beads to form cascading strands that shimmer and shift in the light. Each child contributed their own colorful sequence, turning simple materials into a playful "garden" of hanging colors.
Inspired by artist Alma Thomas's "The Eclipse", this 36 x 48-inch canvas bursts with color and energy. Our kindergartners worked together to create lively, joyful brushstrokes that swirl across the canvas, capturing the magic and movement of the sky during an eclipse. Each stroke reflects their curiosity, creativity, and delight in making art together, resulting in a radiant celebration of color and collaboration.
Ms. Bergin's First Grade class used watercolors to paint lines varying in color and size. The result is a beautiful blend of colorful and unique circles that come together and represent these young artists and students.
DC Flag with Cherry Blossoms
Ms. Chappell's class worked together to paint and repaint the flag's symbols on canvas, incorporating pink, white, and even subtle use of brown. They were deliberate with their brushstrokes, too. Not every layer is visible in the final product, but they were all essential to achieve the varied shades and dynamic brushwork across the canvas. The cherry blossom motifs all come from origami paper and are a nod to the District's treasured cherry blossom trees from Japan. Together, the work represents the spirit of friendship and cooperation that animates our city at its best, beginning at the local level in our classrooms and stretching out across the globe.
Ms. Gusseva's first graders used acrylic paint on canvas with a touch of glitter to create this delightful collection of mustangs.

This one-of-a-kind serving tray features colorful circles painted by the students in Ms. Buza's second grade class, each representing a bright spot in our school community. Each dot showcases their creativity, uniqueness, and just the right amount of sparkle. Together, their work creates a functional piece that is perfect for serving snacks, holding mail, or adding a pop of color to your home - this tray is proof that when kids create magic happens!
Students in Ms. Hsu's class constructed this vibrant cut-paper city. Each child contributed a colorful building or city feature to this unique collage. "Our City" includes houses, parks, restaurants, museums, skyscrapers, and a zoo. It would bring a splash of color to any room in your house! The artwork measures 22 x 28 inches.

Each student shared multiple droplets of color and love, representing the unique magic that each child and family brings to our special school to create a beautiful "We Love Murch" painting.
Students marbled individual paper hearts and added their names to leave their mark. Their individual hearts are arranged across a larger heart. The piece is mounted in a shadow box frame and features a special quote from a beloved bear known for his kindness, wisdom, and positive outlook-just like the students in our class.

This collaborative artwork was created by the students in Ms. Schafer's class. Using a printmaking process, the students designed and printed images of Washington, DC's most iconic landmarks, including the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol, the White House, and the Jefferson Memorial. In this piece, the monuments are surrounded by delicate cherry blossoms and a vibrant sunset sky. Each student contributed to the final composition, making this a unique piece that celebrates both the beauty of Washington, DC and the students' love for their city.
Spring Evening in the Nation's Capital
This one-of-a-kind collaborative artwork was created by the students in Ms. Schafer's class using a printmaking process. The students worked together to create prints of Washington, DC's famous monuments, which are featured throughout the scene. A large cherry blossom tree frames the monuments, while a colorful sunset sky glows with shades of blue, red, orange, and yellow. Flying birds in the sky add movement and life to the scene. The artwork captures the beauty of DC during cherry blossom season and reflects the teamwork, creativity, and imagination of the students who helped bring the scene to life.
A Peaceful DC Spring
This special piece was created collaboratively by the students in Ms. Schafer's class. Using a printmaking process, the students designed prints of well-known Washington, DC monuments, including the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol, and the Jefferson Memorial. Ms. Deegan's 5th grade students hand painted each wooden chess piece in Murch's signature gold and blue colors. Play on a standard-size, lightweight hand-painted chess board!
Set of 4 XL ceramic mugs and 12 coasters decorated in Murch blue and yellow botanical designs. Students worked together to use permanent markers on white ceramic to draw freehand nature designs as well as apply stencil graphics as decoration for these pieces. All items were then baked to ensure permanence. Mugs are dishwasher safe. Coasters have cork backing.
This beautiful collage is a collection of original Zentangle 4 x 4 tiles created by Ms. Pazmino's 5th Grade students. The finished piece is 27 x 40. Each student created their own thoughtful and artistic pattern, while embracing the method of Zentangle, a meditative drawing method that uses lines and geometric shapes to create beautiful, abstract art, fostering relaxation, focus, and creativity. This collaborative, framed work of art would look great in any room and add creative flair to your home!
This 3D artwork features a vibrant garden of flowers rising off the canvas, created by the talented 5th graders from Ms. Roling's class. Each flower petal is carefully shaped from colorful pipe cleaners and attached to the canvas, giving the flowers texture, dimension, and a playful, touchable quality. The students twisted, bent, and layered the pipe cleaners to design unique blossoms, while still working together to build one beautiful, united flower garden. This piece celebrates creativity, teamwork, and the joy of turning simple materials into something bright and beautiful.
