The Society of Presidential Descendants, in partnership with The Roosevelt School at Long Island University, is honored to host the Presidential Book Award Dinner, a biennial event recognizing exceptional contributions to the study of presidential leadership and history through distinguished works of nonfiction.

The 2025 program will be hosted by Congressman Steve Israel and will feature Mark K. Updegrove, President and Chief Executive Officer of the LBJ Foundation, who will be formally recognized as the Distinguished Presidential Historian Award Recipient.

Since its inception, the Award has celebrated works of enduring scholarship and public resonance. Notable recipients include Ted Widmer for Lincoln on the Verge: Thirteen Days to Washington and William Inboden for The Peacemaker: Ronald Reagan, The Cold War, and the World on the Brink.

The Presidential Leadership Book Award Dinner continues a proud tradition of convening thought leaders, public officials, and historians in recognition of scholarship that advances the understanding of the American presidency.
