2025 Pitt County Distinguished Citizen Honoree is Kristi Overton Johnson

Kristi Overton Johnson stands as a beacon of excellence, resilience, and compassion-qualities that make her a fitting recipient of the Distinguished Citizen recognition in Pitt County, Greenville, NC.
A world-renowned water skiing champion, Kristi's athletic career spanned nearly four decades, during which she amassed 80 professional victories, held the women's world slalom record for eighteen years, and was inducted into multiple halls of fame, including the NC Sports Hall of Fame. Her discipline, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence on the water laid the foundation for a life of purpose beyond sport.
Following her athletic career, Kristi channeled her passion into faith-based service and philanthropy. As the founder of Kristi Overton Johnson Ministries (KOJM), she has dedicated her life to uplifting the brokenhearted through prison outreach, global missions, and community revival events. Her flagship initiative, Victorious Living Prison Outreach, delivers hope and transformation to incarcerated individuals across the U.S., including over 400 men and women at the Pitt County Detention Center.
Kristi's return to Greenville in 2020 marked a powerful homecoming. Through events like the Revival of Hope and her ongoing ministry work, she has reignited a spirit of unity, healing, and faith in the local community. Her commitment to citizenship, service, and spiritual leadership exemplifies the values upheld by the Scout movement and the Distinguished Citizen honor.
Kristi Overton Johnson's journey-from world-class athlete to global missionary and local servant-leader-embodies the highest ideals of character, courage, and community impact. Her life's work continues to inspire generations to live victoriously, serve selflessly, and lead with heart.
For providing outstanding civic service and community support, Kristi Overton Johnson has been selected as the recipient of the annual Distinguished Citizen Award from Scouting America - East Carolina Council.
