Each Labor Day at camp we hold a 5K to help raise money for scholarships for kids who otherwise couldn't afford to come to camp. Over the past 3 years, we have seen the requests for camp scholarships skyrocket. There are so many kids that want to come to camp that can't afford to do so without a scholarship-and these are often the kids that need camp the most!
My goal this year is to raise $1000 - enough to provide scholarships for up to 4 campers.
I'm collecting donations and on Labor Day I'll be running a 5K in support of this goal. Will it be 90 degrees with 100% humidity here in southern Indiana? Probably. Is this cause worth it?
Absolutely.
I have worked at Lakeview for the past 10 years as Program Director, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this place changes lives.

Every summer I get to watch kids come to camp dealing with their own set of worries, wounds, anxieties, and stresses and leave lighter, freer, and made more whole. Camp is a place that provides kids things that they desperately need in this life: deep community, life spent unplugged and outside, and hope for the future.
Any amount you give will help make sure that ALL kids who want to can come to camp to experience the love and hope of Jesus.
Kids need camp. And camp needs you!
