This piece was inspired by the song "Alone in Kyoto" by Air, which was included in Sofia Coppola's 2003 film Lost in Translation (amazing by the way).
It plays during a reflective montage of Scarlett Johansson's character wandering through Kyoto, perfectly capturing the mood of solitude and introspection.
I substituted snowy tree lines for Kyoto, opened the color jar, and combined the common tranquility of snow on two far away mountain tops.
With its delicate piano lines, subtle electronic textures, and minimalist structure, "Alone in Kyoto" evokes a serene and meditative feeling-like walking through a quiet temple garden at dusk.
