Code-ing the Future" brings foundational robotics to every PK-2 student. Equipping each grade level with VEX 123 technology builds a "Legacy in Logic" preparing our Mustangs for a digital world. This grant addresses Technology Applications TEKS-notably computational thinking and innovative design. Screen-free VEX 123 lets students master sequences and debugging through tactile touch and Coder Cards. Technology becomes an active catalyst for learning, not passive screen time. Key Pillars of the Project: Interdisciplinary Integration: These subject-agnostic robots "drive" to vowel sounds, number lines, or migrations, bringing abstract concepts to life across all curricula. Problem-Solving & SEL: Robotics builds Social Emotional Learning. Students practice self-regulation when a code fails, turning "failure" into a "bug" to solve. This fosters a growth mindset. Collaborative PBIS Goals: "Dev Teams" practice active listening and empathy. These activities provide a structured environment to reward cooperation and respectful communication. Description: This 2.5 hour field trip is a snapshot of life as a pilot exploring the Flight Academy for Ground School STEM lessons. Students will visit two hangars showcasing innovations in aircraft since the Dawn of Flight. In the Aviation Learning Center students will conduct a pre-flight safety inspection of a real airplane and pilot a flight simulator. A visit to the Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston allows 6th-grade students to experience real-world applications of physical science concepts, engineering design, and Earth science topics they study in class. Students will make concrete connections to abstract concepts by observing aircrafts, engines, and engaging in an interactive pilot simulation where they can experience concepts like aerodynamics and energy transformation. This field trip will provide students with a real world experience aligned with several 6th grade science TEKS including: bolstering classroom instruction that Exhibits on aircraft innovation show the engineering design process (TEKS 6.3B & 6.3C), linking science with technology and problem-solving. Students explore how engineers use force and motion to operate an aircraft (TEKS 6.6A & 6.6B) A flight museum field trip deepens understanding of forces, motion, and energy, builds appreciation for the engineering design process, and connects science to real-world technology and careers-making learning memorable, relevant, and exciting for 6th graders!

Currently, limited and aging tools restrict the ability of students to fully explore ceramic processes such as wheel throwing, hand-building, and surface design. By updating and expanding the tool collection, this grant will provide equitable access to the resources students need to learn, experiment, and succeed. Improved tools will also reduce frustration, promote proper technique, and help maintain a cleaner, safer studio environment.
Description: The purpose of this grant is to acquire a pugmill to significantly improve the efficiency, sustainability, and educational potential of our ceramics program. A pugmill enables the recycling and reclaiming of clay, reducing material waste and promoting environmentally responsible practices. It also enhances the consistency and quality of clay used in artistic production, benefiting both beginners and advanced ceramicists. This equipment will support FHS ceramics in: Streamlining clay recycling processes to reduce operational costs and the environmental impact. Improving access to high-quality, workable clay for students, artists, or community members. Expanding hands-on learning opportunities in ceramic arts, especially in areas of materials science, craftsmanship, and sustainable studio practices. Increasing the overall capacity and functionality of our ceramics studio.
Description: These tools will expanding the creative possibilities with clay. They can help add textures, create symmetry in pieces, and design smaller, more intricate clay pieces. These specialized tools (like texturing brushes, rolling texturizers, or clay compasses) invite play and discovery, which often leads to new artistic directions. The bead tree allows us to fire much smaller pieces and create jewelry. Texture tools allow ceramic students to move beyond smooth surfaces, adding depth, detail, and individuality to their work. They help translate ideas, emotions, and themes into tactile, visual patterns.

High-quality mat boards play a crucial role in the visual impact and preservation of artwork, yet many emerging and student artists lack the resources to properly frame or mount their pieces for exhibition. This grant offers financial or material support for the purchase of mat boards and related presentation supplies. By reducing this barrier, the program promotes equity in artistic competitions, ensuring that every participant-regardless of financial background-can showcase their artwork to its fullest potential.
Description: This grant seeks funding to create a dedicated storage and organization system for ceramic glazes used for our ceramics classes. Proper glaze storage is essential for maintaining material quality, ensuring safety, and fostering creative experimentation within the ceramics program. Currently, glazes are stored in a limited and inefficient manner, making it difficult to track materials, prevent contamination, and manage inventory. The proposed system will include proper shelving, glaze dividers, and labeled containers. By improving storage capacity and accessibility, this grant will enhance workflow efficiency, reduce waste, and support the artistic development of our ceramic students.
Description: Today's school libraries are transforming to accommodate the changing needs of the campus. Having shelves that are on wheels will allow for the library to be reconfigured to create spaces for collaboration, makerspace projects, guest speakers and community events. In addition, the added flexibility will allow for new technology integration as well as allow the librarian the ability to arrange the furniture in a way that benefits the students. With traditional bookshelves that are not mobile it is very difficult to adapt the library over time to meet the needs of the campus and the growing variety of programs that are offered.

Description: Molecule modeling kits offer chemistry students a hands-on way to visualize and understand abstract chemical concepts with greater accuracy than improvised craft-type materials. Unlike makeshift models, which often distort bond lengths, angles, and spatial relationships, therefore relying on the students to already understand the concepts in order to create the models, molecular kits are designed to accurately represent real atomic sizes, bonding capacities, and geometric constraints. This allows students to explore true-to-scale 3D molecular structures and better grasp how atoms connect and interact. By physically building and manipulating models, students move beyond memorizing formulas and flat diagrams to seeing chemistry in motion-understanding molecular geometry in a tangible way. Modeling also promotes critical thinking and problem-solving as students test and visualize how structure affects chemical behavior. For visual and kinesthetic learners, these kits transform difficult topics into interactive discovery, bridging the gap between theory and reality. Ultimately, molecular modeling kits provide both precision and engagement, deepening conceptual understanding.

Description: The Motion Detector uses ultrasound to measure the position of carts, balls, people, and other objects. Measure objects as close as 15 cm and as far away as 6 m. Sensitivity switch reduces noise and produces higher quality data for studying dynamics carts on tracks. Attaches easily to the Vernier Dynamics System. Pivoting head allows for flexibility in the experiment setup. Students currently don't have a way to quickly and easily see qualitatively and plot quantitatively motion as it occurs in real time. This will greatly improve students' understanding of motion of objects which is the building blocks to understanding moving objects are caused by forces, or cause forces, create interactions and they have momentum and energy.
Description: A pottery wheel would enhance hands-on learning and creative expression in our ceramics program. A pottery wheel is an essential tool for teaching foundational ceramic skills, including wheel-throwing techniques, symmetry, and surface design. By providing students with access to a functional, high-quality wheel, we will expand opportunities for experimentation, technical growth, and artistic innovation. A pottery wheel would also allow for more individualized instruction, increased project variety, and create a more dynamic, interactive learning environment. Students will gain confidence as they practice new techniques and see immediate results in their work, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment.
