This piece was inspired by the song "Lost at Sea" by Lana Del Rey and Rob Grant. This series showcases how objects and places remain constant throughout time, while the people that use them come and go like memories. A double exposure technique is used to create the ethereal images in the Memories series. Paige uses authentic cameras from the 1800s, and all images are captured using the wet collodion method of photography. The Wet Collodion Method or "tintype process" began in the 1860s, and is one of the oldest forms of photography in the world. The enlargement is made from an 8" x 10" tintype plate. For a detailed explanation of the process please visit: https://www.paigewhitcomb.com/the-process. An archival film scan of the in-camera plate is created, which allows for the possibility of an enlargement. Enlargements are the combination of historic methods of photography intertwined with 21st century photographic methods. To keep all of Paige's photographs true to the historic process, all images are singular editions with no copies available. Each enlargement comes with the in camera 8" x 10" tintype that the image was enlarged from. The 20" x 26" tintype comes with the original 8" x 10" plate. The artwork is back mounted and ready to hang. It also comes with a French cleat for quick and easy hanging. This piece weighs approximately 5 pounds.

"I hand-built this miniature and photographed it in a light box while flooded with bright white lights. The finished piece is a 20x20 photograph, printed on paper and heat-pressed under heavy pressure onto a sheet of polyester-coated aluminum. It's ready to hang using the included French cleat. To build the miniature, I used polymer clay, wood, paper, cloth, and aluminum. Unique to this piece is a shower curtain made from a real bridal veil. The tub was sculpted from polymer clay shaped around a river rock to form its curve. The small red book was hand-assembled with real pages, and the book board was cut from a Popsicle stick. The shower head and base are crafted from a push pin and painted chrome. The circular shower curtain rod was hand-formed from aluminum, and the floor rug was cut from a beach chair. The original miniature will be on display in my booth at Cherry Creek Arts, along with several other whimsical, hand-built scenes and the photographs that bring them to life."

This painting of a hand carved carousel horse is from a series inspired by childhood memories of riding a classic Charles Looff carousel in Elmira, New York, near where I grew up. This work is a giclee reproduction on canvas of an original oil by Signe & Genna Grushovenko. 'Northern Lights' was inspired by a mid-century photo of a 'ski beach' where groups of skiers were lounging in the bright sun after a bout of exertion. We were attracted to the idea of rendering a freezing scene with hot, almost tropical colors. Also attractive were the themes of rest after play and easy camaraderie.

Materially, this piece is a fine example of our collaboration, celebrating both Genna's luscious, chaotic underpainting and my figurative overlay.
The artists print the giclees from their studio using highly archival materials, including museum grade Epson inks that are rated for 200 years. The piece is hand signed and titled on the back by the artists.
