"Where I Begin Again"
Hand Ground Pigments, Acrylic, Red Desert Sand, and mica

"Where I Begin Again" is a meditation on my deep emotional connection to the landscape of Wyoming. Using pigments gathered directly from the land and ground by hand, acrylics, and mica, I explore the vast open spaces and shifting moods of the terrain, reflecting my personal journey of growth and self-discovery. Through this, the process of creation becomes an act of grounding and the work itself transforms into a form of communion, offering moments of clarity and restoration.

Carli Holcomb spent her childhood on the Green River. Where she fell in love with the land, the flow of water, and the thrill of potential discoveries around the next corner. She is still chasing down this sense of awe in her studio. Her work is rooted in material exploration, often using materials collected from the landscape. She holds an AA from Casper College, a BFA from the University of Wyoming, and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work has been on the cover of Metalsmith Magazine, mentioned in The New York Times, and is in public and private collections throughout the United States. Carli teaches Metalsmithing, Sculpture, and Printmaking at Casper College.
