The stand was closed in 2005 and moved into storage, in Torrance. After a couple of failed attempts of being reopened, it was finally revived by The 1933 Group, which restored the stand and reopened it in West Hollywood in 2022.

Alyssa Crosby has been an artist all of her life. Growing up in Southern California, she started painting murals at age 12. After spending time in Portland, Oregon, Crosby moved to the Bay Area in 2000, moving to San Francisco, where she founded Art Design San Francisco, a mural design company.

TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby in color, our 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an opulent wine with notes of cassis, ripe raspberry, toasted coconut and shiitake mushroom. This wine has a rich entry, depth through the mid-palate, great structure without being heavy and exceptional length on the finish. Fresh cherry flavors balanced with floral notes and a subtle hint of black pepper add a beautiful complexity. Plush tannins lend to its ageworthiness. Given proper cellaring conditions, this wine will show beautifully through 2040.

We always strive to honor the growing season in our wines based upon what Mother Nature brings us, and the 2016 vintage -our 35th! -illustrates this beautifully. This Cabernet Sauvignon is big and rich without being overwrought. Lovely aromatic nuances give way to great mouthfeel and length with wonderful, dynamic energy.

The 2016 growing season began early and we left an active cover crop in place to help reduce soil moisture and to moderate growth. We did very little leafing in anticipation of a warm season. Veraison came early, and to ensure that our resulting wines would be fresh and aromatic, we began irrigating deeply with long intervals in between. Though
this classic vintage was marked by a series of heat spells during late veraison and harvest, fortunately these were followed by periods of quite cool weather and the vines were able to recuperate, preserving great aromatic precursors in the fruit.

Overall in 2016, berry size was moderate and the fruit condition was very good, yielding wines that are deep, layered, and refined, with the same beautiful edge and precision that our Estate Cabernet wines always display. Given the context of a warmer vintage, we are very happy to see the freshness and perfumed edge that we so value at Spottswoode.

The finest wine I've tasted from the estate, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Estate checks in as 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec. Aged 22 months in new barrels, its deep inky color is followed by a full-bodied, rich, concentrated beauty that has subtle background oak as well as tons of cassis fruits and notes of white flowers, crushed rocks, and classic Howell Mountain pine and bay leaf notes. Hats off to winemaker Sam Kaplan for this sensational effort. Give bottles 2-4 years and it's capable of keeping for 2+ decades.

The 2019 Estate Red is another magical wine from winemaker Sam Kaplan. Based on 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot and Malbec, all from the estate on Howell Mountain, it offers up a dense purple hue to go with stunningly pure cassis and darker currant fruits, full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, and a complex, nuanced style in its leafy herbs, flowers, scorched earth, and classy oak aromas and flavors. It's brilliant any way you look at it. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following three decades.

Tasting Notes
The Faniani Vineyard, located in the center of the Coombsville AV A, is proving to be one latest premium vineyards to be planted to Cabernet in that young area, and is producing less than of grapes per acre. Blue fruits dominate the nose, with toasty oak notes and an inviting youthfulness
of fruit. Flavors follow suit from the aromatics, providing a mouth filling, flavorful wine like to call classy rustic. The texture is full and rich, with supple, ageworthy tannins that are fine-grained. Dark-fruited and elegant in stature, the wine has excellent pedigree from beginning to end.

Home to some of the most sought-after Cabernet Sauvignon in America, Napa Valley's Oakville district stretches across the center of Napa's valley floor and foothills between the Vaca and Mayacamas Mountains. This AVA is home to the legendary To Kalon Vineyard and Martha's Vineyard, as well as many powerhouse wineries including Screaming Eagle, Silver Oak, Robert Mondavi, Opus One, Far Niente and Groth.

The climate is generally warm and agreeable, resulting in year after year of favorable vintages. Summer days see a gentle tug of war between warmer inland air and the cool air coming in from the San Pablo Bay, creating an ideal environment to grow red varieties. Oakville's diverse soils, namely ancient sea bedrock, clay and gravel, are well-drained, and perfect for high-caliber viticulture.

Cabernet here is often bottled varietally but is also popular in Bordeaux Blends. Oakville wines are known for their silky, sensual textures, structured tannins, dark and brooding fruit and lovely aromatics. These age-worthy and prestigious wines are favored by collectors throughout the world.

The 2019 Paradigm is a lovely wine showcasing dark-berried fruit layered with a host of elegant spices. Its medium- to full-bodied palate is profoundly flavourful and complex. The perfumed elegance of violets and rose petals is perfectly balanced by the wine's inky dark fruit character, all supported by intricate, fine-grained, and super firm tannins. The finish is long, mineral-driven, and defined by freshness, balance, and energy. I find myself shaking my head over the lack of critical praise for these wines over the years and applaud the consumers who have locked into a spot on the mailing list at Paradigm because they are world-class wines from pedigreed vines, ageworthy, and offer just about the best QPR (quality-to-price ratio) in Napa these days.

Tuscan Red Wine

Winemaker Notes: Costanti Brunello di Montalcino is ruby red, with good intensity and garnet reflections. Ample and enveloping, with notes of ripe red fruit and hints of underbrush. Mild yet noble spice. Excellent structure with soft tannins and long aromatic persistence. In spite of the hot vintage, the acidity profile is exceptional.

A sleeper wine of some magnitude. This bottle is a single vineyard Oakville Cabernet from Ashe Vineyard, a small family owned block in a very prestigious neighborhood. Right next door is Cardinale, down the street are Opus One, To Kalon and Far Niente. Thread Feathers is a project of typically one-off wines, made from tiny parcels that are surplus from much larger wineries producing far more expensive wines. So basically you're getting super high-end wine at very modest prices.
