2024-25 Season Recap
After an exciting return to the ice, the Montana Tech Oredigger Hockey Club is moving full speed ahead. While the 2024-25 season record (3-24-1) wasn't what we hoped for, the energy surrounding Digger Hockey's revival has been felt across Butte.
In our first year back, we raised nearly $6,000 for the St. James Cancer Center and almost $2,000 for the Montana Tech Veterans Association through special event nights. In just 18 months, the Club has built a strong foundation and earned recognition from campus leadership, the community, and Montana Tech Admissions and the Foundation, who now assist with volunteer recruitment and marketing efforts.
This spring, we hosted our first Prospect Showcase and Campus Visit Weekend, drawing over 20 prospective student-athletes and their families. The weekend featured evaluation skates, an inter-squad game, campus tours, and presentations from campus leaders, laying the groundwork for a stronger, deeper roster next season.
As we prepare for the 2025-26 season, our estimated budget is $70,000, with additional costs possible for Regional or National competition. While players pay annual dues, we rely heavily on donations and sponsorships to keep our program growing and accessible.

Digger Hockey Veterans Appreciation Night 2025

Veterans and families of veterans have a special opportunity to sponsor a jersey, with the option to claim the game-worn sweater after the game or donate it to an auction, where the club will donate the proceeds from the game and auction to the Veterans Association of Montana Tech.

Join the Montana Tech Digger Hockey Team on November 21, 2025, for their annual "Pink the Rink" Breast Cancer Fundraiser at the Butte Community Ice Center. The Diggers will wear special "Hockey Fights Cancer" jerseys as they face off against the Eastern Washington University Eagles.
