About the artist: Alicia Y. Christy retired as the Deputy Director Reproductive Health Veterans Administration. She also served as the Chair of the OBGYN department at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She has a passion for advocacy and health disparities. She uses her artwork to honor fallen women soldiers and other issues important to her. Dr. Christy is a founding member and former chair of the ASRM Health Disparities Special Interest Group. In 2020, she received the ASRM Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award for her work with women veterans and homeless women. Dr. Christy is involved in advocacy work with ASRM, ACOG, the National Medical Association, and VotER.
