The Barnabas Furniture Bank, is kicking off its Spring Furniture Auction fundraiser! This online fundraiser will run Thursday, April 24 - Thursday, May 1. The weeklong shopping experience features 500+ high-end new and like-new pieces donated by local retailers and manufacturers. It is a win win: You get a chance to win a treasure for your home while helping fund our ability to furnish other homes in our community. The online shopping party runs through Thursday, May 1 at 8 p.m. Go ahead and get registered, and get ready to bid! 


Bidding - Online, Overtime Bidding

This is an online auction. Items will become visible on this page Thursday, April 24 at 8:00 a.m.  You will be able to browse and bid on items (through this website) through Thursday, May 1 at 8:00 p.m,  when the auction will begin to close. This auction, like our other recent auctions, will feature overtime bidding. This means we will be monitoring the bids live beginning at 8 p.m. and we'll keep the entire auction open until all bidding battles have finished. Watch the video and read the details in that section below for more information. All bidding takes place exclusively online through this auction website.

Payment and Pick Up 

All payment will be online through the website, and then everything must be picked up during the following week from Stonesthrow Shopping Center: 3703 Farmington Dr, Greensboro, NC 27407. Please see updated pick up schedule and information below. DEADLINE FOR PICKUP IS FRIDAY, MAY 9. Plan ahead. Measure your vehicle, find some rope, tie downs, and plastic, ask your friends with trucks and trailers or call a moving company. Check the section below for more details.

The Barnabas Furniture Bank is headquartered at 838 Winston Street, Greensboro, NC, 27405 and gives free home furnishings to individuals and families transitioning from homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, overcoming major setbacks, and living on incomes that do not cover basic needs. In an average year, Barnabas gives out more than 8,000 pieces of furniture, including more than 1,000 beds. Half of those beds go to school-age children.

When you place a bid you are making a commitment to pay that price if you are the winning bidder.

OVERTIME BIDDING

As we have done with all of our recent auctions, we will do a manual close for the overtime portion of our auction. What does that mean? It means that as the close of our auction draws near our staff will be monitoring the bids as they arrive. If a bid is received in the last minute before 8 p.m. then the entire auction will be extended for an additional minute. This process will repeat as long as bids are continuing to come in for any item in the auction. Even if there is a bidding battle for just one item, the entire auction will stay open until all items are settled at the highest bid. Once a minute elapses with no bids on any item in the system, we will close the auction. This is similar to the auctioneer saying "Going once, going twice...Sold". It may take 1 minutes, or 10 minutes or an hour and 10 minutes or more depending on the level of bidding. Go ahead, send in those bids and don't wait for the last minute, or consider setting your max bid and walk away.

The auction location is in the Stonesthrow Shopping Center at 3703 Farmington Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407. Please drive to the side of the building to park. DO NOT PARK IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. Park beside the building. The entrance we are using this year is on the side of the building. Please let Barnabas staff know if you need an entrance without stairs and they will direct you accordingly. Thank you!

IN-PERSON BROWSING

All bidding will take place online, through this auction website - however, we encourage you to come see the items in-person at Stonesthrow Shopping Center: 3703 Farmington Dr, Greensboro, NC 27407 during the times listed below. The photos on the site are for your reference only. Please come by during the times below to inspect and assess the condition before bidding as all items are sold "as is" and all bids are final.

PAYMENT AND PICK UP INFORMATION

  

DEADLINE TO PICK UP ITEMS WILL BE FRIDAY, MAY 9 AT NOON.


We will be running the pick up times the same as we did in the Fall. All winners will be able to come and pick up their items on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This is our "Open Pick Up" time.  No Reservation Needed our staff and volunteers will be ready to help you on a first come, first serve basis. After that day ALL REMAINING PICK UP TIMES WILL BE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. If you don't sign up, we won't be there. The link will be posted after the auction, but appointment times will be limited. This ensures the best use of our staff time and resources and ensures that the funds you help raise go further towards fulfilling our main mission of turning furnishing homes here in our community. 


Auctions are always exciting, but once it closes, what are the next steps? When the bidding closes, winners will be notified via email and provided with a link to pay for their items. You will have 24 hours to check out with the card of your choosing using the link provided. After that period of time, any unpaid invoices will be charged to the card on file.


Once paid, you will be emailed a receipt. Bring your receipt (paper or digital) with you to pick up your items at  Stonesthrow Shopping Center: 3703 Farmington Dr, Greensboro, NC 27407. All payment must be made through the website before you come to pick up. There will be no transactions at the pick up location.


Use the link above (when it is posted) to schedule a pick up appointment and arrive at your scheduled pick up time. Our staff will not be there to help you if you don't sign up.


You may also contract with a third-party delivery service, but make sure you either meet them here or send them with a copy of your receipt. They too will need to be here at your scheduled pick up appointment.


Be sure to check the measurements in the descriptions of your items to make sure your vehicle will be big enough, and don't forget to bring rope, straps, and plastic to secure and protect your items if needed. Please note some items will require professional movers.

ABOUT

The Barnabas Furniture Bank is the Triad's only nonprofit furniture bank. We give free home furnishings to individuals and families transitioning from homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, overcoming major setbacks, and living on incomes that do not cover basic needs. In an average year, Barnabas serves 2,500 individuals in 800 households. This amounts to more than 8,000 pieces of furniture, including 1,000 beds, with half going to school-age children.
