Alan Turing played a pivotal role in breaking the Enigma code, inventing a machine called the Bombe, which greatly eased the work of codebreakers. By the mid-1940s, the German Air Force's communications were being intercepted at Bletchley Park, and the intelligence gathered from them contributed significantly to the Allied war effort. Despite his heroic contributions, Turing was later persecuted for being gay. He was sentenced to prison, and upon release, he tragically took his own life due to the ongoing harassment he faced.

This beautiful mixed media piece was made by Ronald Episcopo to honor Alan Turing's legacy. It is part of Ron's series on LGBTQ+ icons.
