With the murrini pieces, Stang begins by making glass rods which are patterned in cross section. The rods are cooled and cut into thin pieces and arranged on an iron plate which is then heated to fuse the murrini. Two Tone Studios was founded in 2007 by artists Boyd Sugiki and Lisa Zerkowitz. Their studio name refers to the use of color as well as the two voices behind the work. Each piece is designed and handmade by the pair-from sketch to finished piece. They strive to create forms that are both refined and distinct. In efforts to achieve objects that are joyful and calm, they focus on the subtleties, in both color and form. Their approach to object making allows them to create collections that people can live with each day to celebrate the daily rituals of life.

Evelyn Gottschall Baker
Live ItemShed by Evelyn Gottschall Baker
Pate de verre glass.
"Shed" portrays a cast-off antler, once part of a majestic crown, now resting beneath layers of forest debris. Yet, with the turning of the seasons, the deer grows anew - stronger, more magnificent. This natural cycle offers a quiet, profound reminder: growth often begins with letting go. By shedding what no longer serves us, we create space for transformation. Each year, nature invites us to begin again - if we choose to embrace it.

Lauren Kalman
Live ItemTo Hold… (19) by Lauren Kalman
Face, hands aubergine. Created by Lauren Kalman as part of the collection exhibition at Pittsburgh Glass Center from May through August of 2025.
"To Hold…" is a collection of vessels and bronze tools produced from castings of Kalman's body. They are produced in segments and used in concert to articulate the movement of the body's joints. The castings together function like a human-scale puppet in the hot shop to cradle glass vessels. The carefully controlled form of the vessel is lost with the imprint of the body leaving both a permanent distortion of the original form and the lasting imprint of the absent body. Additionally, the transparency of the glass creates a void or absence, holding space for loss.

Dylan Martinez
Live ItemWater Balloons by Dylan Martinez
Each color is custom mixed in our glass furnace, no two color batches can be the exact same, making each small batch of balloons limited. They are sculpted out of hot glass, the punty mark is ground off, then they are sandblasted and acid etched.
Dylan continues to find creative ways to engage viewers with his hyperrealistic sculptures. The water balloons trigger a sense of nostalgia, bringing us back to our childhood when water balloon fights were a source of joy and laughter.
Dimensions listed are the approximate size for each individual balloon (sold as a set of 6)

Jason Christian Glass
Live ItemPittsburgh Dragon by Jason Christian
Blown glass with cane.
"Growing up on Whidbey Island I would often see dragons on the side of jets flying overhead. To me that symbolized the desire to keep going. To overcome the hurdles and to keep pushing the boundaries in my craft. That symbolism translates into this piece. The dragon taking extensive time and effort to create, it is my most laborious piece."

Richard Royal
Live ItemVelocity by Richard Royal
This piece, "Velocity" is the most recent result of exploration done with the Diamond Cut Series, a series that's been developing for 40 years.
The process is multi-step involving multiple color overlays that symbolize the complexity of self. These overlays go on a central, very thick bubble, to be formed into a large, very thick open cup. This cup will then be cooled to room temperature, using a diamond saw, slicing through the layers of color, that will later be exposed during the hot process.
Once completely sliced, the cup is put back into an oven and brought up to 1,100 degrees. Once the cup is ready, a very hot mass of glass on a blow pipe is stuffed into the waiting cup and picked out of the oven. The entire piece is quickly taken to the reheating chamber and the process begins of blowing out the piece.
The shaping and forming of the form relies almost entirely on heat, gravity and centrifugal force to achieve the form of the completed sculpture. A beautiful, fluid form that draws the viewer in by active color presentation and optical movement throughout the artwork!
