This quilt was part of a quilt challenge--same pattern with different fabric. I decided to go with bold and bright colors! It reminds me of Mardi Gras. This quilt would make a great lap quilt or throw to brighten any room.

The quilt is 55" X 63" and is 100% cotton. The batting is 80/20 cotton poly.

Each "ribbon" is machine quilted in a different pattern.

Machine wash in cold and dry on medium or line dry.

Curl up with the cuddly flannel quilt. Count the sheep and you are off to sleep! The flannel sheep print and coordinated fabrics inspired this modified log cabin design with a cuddly sheep as the center square.

"Black Diamonds" is made with a variety of black and white prints (including musical instruments and notes) accented with gold and maroon.

A few years ago 18 completed quilt blocks were given to the St. Andrew's quilting group by an anonymous person. We loved the pattern but there were not enough squares to make a nice sized quilt. One of the members of our group completed 31 more squares to make it a queen size quilt. It will look great on a queen sized bed!

The Quilters have named this quilt "Fall Magic". It has striking colors. It is a basic quilt made up of 10 inch squares with a wide black border strip, all from donated fabric. Our church and community have been very generous by donating lovely new and used fabrics through personal stashes, newly purchased and gifted fabrics, Thrivent money and other cash donations, and shared fabric from sister churches in the area.

The First Lutheran Quilting Ministry has been active since April 27, 1971. We are a small group that meets Friday mornings during the school year and sometimes in the summer, just to be together. Other church members and former members cut squares and sew tops at home. That increases our number of quilters to about a dozen. We give quilts to Lutheran World Relief, our high school graduates, local Food Shelf, those in need and homeless in our area, Aitkin Advocates for Domestic Abuse, Habitat for Humanity, Camp Knutson and other requests that come our way.

This personal cuddle quilt was designed with these fall friendly cotton fabrics to sit under as the cool air of fall begins to creep into the day. Designed with a center star medallion of greens, tans, and burgundy and a leaf motif with surrounding blocks. Whether with a morning coffee or an afternoon tea you will be cozy under this lap quilt.

Our quilting group has been together with a wide variety of members since 1992. We have participated and organized numerous quilt marathons to help provide quilts for the surrounding communities and beyond into the world. We have sent thousands of quilts out to many organizations that then in turn give our quilts to people who can use them for years to come.

Faye Brokate (Brenda Wagner's Mom) made and sent several huge boxes of quilt tops to the Synod Assembly the last few years. She donates these for groups to take back to their church sewing groups. I took a few tops for our quilting group, but this one was just so pretty, I decided to finish it and donate it to the World Hunger Campaign. It's 71" by 96" and machine sewn. This beautiful quilt is a large 91" X 112" size that would be perfect on a queen- or king-sized bed. Thousands of floral and burgundy blocks make up the pattern "Trip Around the World". The quilt is all cotton and has been bound by machine and hand and is machine quilted. This lovely quilt would enhance any bedroom and be a keepsake for years to come.

This gorgeous quilt was made by Patricia Johnson from the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, Duluth and machine quilted by Marlene Hiltner. Pat said she has always had a penchant for Japanese fabrics and wanted to use them in a traditional pattern. She made the 57" by 81" quilt in a Traditional Log Cabin offset with corner flowers.

The materials used are 100% cotton piecing and batting. The binding is machine and hand stitched. This quilt would add beauty to your home as a wall hanging, over the back of a couch or on a bed.

Messiah Quilters from Mountain Iron meet weekly to sew and tie quilts, make baby care and school kits, and enjoy a wonderful fellowship. Becky Bachman (one of our members and the main seamstress for school kit bags and gowns, tops, and jackets for baby care kits), gathers up all the scraps that come from the quilts that we are working on and turns them into beautiful scrappy quilts.

This quilt started with scraps as small as two inches. Becky sewed them together into five-inch blocks. The blocks were then made into a 60" by 84" quilt, so the quilt has thousands of tiny pieces. It has been machine quilted with a cotton batting and machine and hand stitched binding (which was also made from left-over fabric). The photo shows it as a topper on a queen-sized bed. It is machine washable.

I love to quilt, leaving me with many left-overs and scraps that I hate to throw away. I am always in search of patterns that allow me to use up bits and pieces of fabric. This is one of them. If you look closely, you can find Sponge Bob Square Pants, teddy bears, footballs, etc. Fun for children to play "I Spy."

After collecting a pile of fat quarters in this purple and green colorway, I found this pattern called Minnesota Hot dish, designed by Terry Atkinson of Atkinson Designs. It turned out to be a lovely pattern to showcase the colors.

The quilt is considered a twin size at 66" X 84" It is 100% cotton with a cotton/poly blend batting.

Machine pieced, quilted and bound by me on my home domestic sewing machine. This was one of my earlier attempts at machine quilting and binding, so it is not perfect, but still beautiful, and will serve you well.

I love going to quilting retreats --visiting with other quilters, seeing their amazing projects, sewing all day (and maybe all night), and no cooking or cleaning. In March I went to Camp Vermilion and got three quilts done. This is one of them.

This quilt is from the Galaxy pattern that uses a V block tool. I borrowed that tool from a friend, so I got two quilts cut out that I could finish at the retreat. I love the bold circles that pop out and give the illusion of curved seams, but it's all straight stitching.

This 78" x 94" (queen sized) quilt is made of 100% cotton material with 80/20 batting so it's nice and warm without being bulky. The quilt has been machine quilted with blue variegated thread. It's machine and hand bound.

I love bee fabric and I have bought many yards of it! So I decided last year to make this woven quilt block pattern to honor honey and the bees that make it. I finished the quilt with cute big bees flying across the pattern. Binding is hand sewn down. The quilt would look great on a twin or full sized bed or the back of a couch.

Scraps, scraps and more scraps. It seems like they just keep multiplying. What to do with all those scraps? Make a beautiful and Happy Scrappy quilt!

This 60" by 80" quilt was created by the quilters from Our Saviors Lutheran in Virginia. It is pieced multicolor fabric with a polyester batting. It has been hand tied and bound with binding and hand stitched on back.

Gorgeous autumn colors with a machine stitched oak leaf pattern, this cozy quilt would be perfect for cuddling under to watch TV, or just for comfort on those tough days.

When Carolyn Abbott closed her Flying Colors business, she donated "leftover" fabric items that did not sell to the Trinity quilting group. These "Log Cabin" quilt blocks are laid out in a "Field and Furrows" pattern and is the name of our quilt. We purchased border and backing fabric and had this little quilt machine quilted.

Trinity's quilting group meet twice a month, except summers when we meet once a month, and make quilts for missions. In 2024 we made 461 quilts. Most of our quilts go to Global Health Ministries in Fridley, MN where they are then sent to various medical facilities in 13 under-resourced countries. Quilts are then used in medical facilities or distributed to people in need. Locally we donated 78 quilts to MN Adult and Teen Challenge, men's and women's campuses, 9 quilts and three sheet sets to the Brainerd Lions Club for families in need and 5 to Pine Manor, Nevis, MN...a substance abuse recovery center. We feels that it is our responsibility to help those in need and that is why we donate to the Synod Assembly quilt auction to help end hunger and poverty.

Look - A Moose! This warm and cozy quilt was made with lots of love from the many talented women of our quilt group. Our quilts are all made with donated fabric. The quilt is 60" x 80". It is pressed lovingly by Russ Olson, our Iron Man. He is very famous and a talented cutter of quilt squares and ironer of our quilts. We are lucky to have his help with our wonderful group. After assembly, all of our quilts are sent to our 'quality control' ladies who check it front to back. They run a lint roller over it to remove all of the excess little threads and lint.

Once finished, it is ready for God's journey to share with others the warmth and love of our congregation.

The quilters from Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm made this fun, puffy quilt that would keep you nice and warm on a cold night. It's a nice big 80" x 80" size and made from cotton material with polyester batting. It has been hand tied and machine bound.

This item could have a cuddle companion of Burgundy Strip, item #122.

This 39" by 40" lap quilt is made of cotton material with polyester batting. It has a nice cuddly flannel back that's been turned to the front to make the binding. Use it alone or as a companion to the full sized Burgundy brick quilt # 121.

The St. Andrew's Lutheran Church quilters offer for auction this delightful full size (68 X80) quilt. It is constructed with rich green and alternating floral blocks of heavier fabric. It is filled with cotton batting and was machine quilted with a wide leaf pattern. The binding was hand stitched by one of our members. Care instructions are machine wash on gentle cycle and dry on low heat.

This beautiful quilt is 86" X 94" and it has cotton/polyester batting. It is machine quilted. Wash on the gentle cycle.

Heartland Conference women made the quilt for the 2024 Summer Convention/Gathering. Diane Wermager already had a pack of 12 fat quarters she did not know what to do with them. When the quilt group saw the fabric they decided it would work well. She was ready to sew after finding a pattern that would emphasize the beautiful blue prints. Margaret Somerfeld found the backing and binding fabrics. She and Diane consulted several times on the project. It is a a blue beauty.

This cozy quilt is 60 X 80 using Black, White, and Gray 10 inch blocks with forest creatures. The quilt is made of cotton fabric, hand tied with crochet thread, has 6 ounce 100% polyester bonded batting. The quilt was machine sewn and has a turned machine binding. This quilt was made by "The Knotty Ladies" at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Outing MN. This group meets twice a month all year round to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief, community members, shelters and anywhere there may be a need.

I enjoy participating in this fund raising event for World Hunger. I received a Thrivent Action Team to purchase the fabric. I often think about the bright and intense colors used in furnishing the Tabernacle - blue, purple and scarlet - when I sew the quilt as described in Exodus. Some of my favorite colors in the Batik fabrics.

This cozy 56"x76" quilt is made from Minnesota themed fabric. It would be perfect for cuddling on the couch or bringing to the cabin to snuggle in. It is hand tied with polyester batting.

The Our Savior's quilters make around 250 quilts a year for Lutheran World Relief, Project Linus, and people within our community.

This lovely, large (105" x 108") hand quilted spread was purchased at an Amish Auction in Whitehall, Wisconsin, for the NEMN World Hunger Auction. The quilt has a scalloped edge and a special pillow top section. The back is plain muslin. The top is a combination of machine work and hand applique in muted tones of brown, blue, green, and mauve. The binding is machine sewn and hand stitched. The winning bid was $400.00 with hopes that others will see the amazing value in this quilt and spend more for the work of the ELCA's World Hunger Program. Batting and laundry instructions were not included in the sale, but it is recommended that the quilt be treated with the same care one would use with other handworked quilts. The quilter's name is attached on the original auction tag.

We would hope to receive at least $400 for this quilt since that is what was paid for it originally. We know that is higher than some quilts, but it is really a beautiful quilt and well worth the money and remember, it is a donation to World Hunger.

This 80"x90" quilt with machine and hand stitching showcases a pattern using colorful batik material to create an optical illusion that will brighten up any space. The quilt has muslin backing and 80/20 batting.

Sandy's mother-in-law gave her the songbird panels which she turned into this lovely quilt with loving family ties to make it extra special.

The quilt's dimensions are 86" by 106". It can be used as a long queen or long king and it is long enough to cover the pillows. The fabric top and back are cotton and cotton blends, with polyester batting used for lining. The binding is machine and hand sewn.

This quilt was inspired by Sandy's granddaughter who loves purple and pinwheels. The result is a flurry of beautiful purple tones.

"The Meadow of Mystery", is a homemade quilt with a mysterious background! She began as a bunch of colors in a plain brown bag! Now she has come together looking more gorgeous than ever.

This 68"x83" quilt is a Brown Bag Mystery (BBM) Quilt. At the time of purchase all of the fabric was placed in a brown paper bag. Only a strip of one fabric was attached to the outside of the bag. Clues to assemble the quilt were mailed every two weeks until all instructions were given. Then the mystery pattern was revealed! To call it beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. The colors complement each other perfectly; the rose silk screen-looking fabric was hand dyed and is breathtaking.

The quilt top was donated by a new church member who had been given the unfinished quilt from her sister. Suzy's sister was moving to Texas to be closer to her kids. Suzy gave the quilt to our church quilters who finished the edges and tied it. Suzy said her sister would be very happy to hear that it's going to World Hunger.
The St. John's of Cedarbrook quilters have for many years donated to Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Social Services, and other organizations that provide comfort to people in need.
The quilt is 81" x 94"; it is cotton fabric, with batting from the Oklee Quilt Shop, hand-stitched with embroidery thread. The backing is a solid green cotton matching the green in the print of the top.

This 60"x60" quilt made with cotton fabric and polyester batting is the perfect size to snuggle in with a good book. The quilt top was machine sewn and hand tied. Machine wash on gentle cycle cold water. Line dry or low heat dryer.

In a disappearing nine patch pattern the top of this quilt features batiks in calming colors reminiscent of lavender and orange blossoms. The quilt measures 74"x74" and is machine quilted with a cotton batting.

Before Covid there was a group of us that called ourselves the sew sisters. We made quilts for people we knew that were going through tough times or were celebrating an event like the birth of a child or a wedding. After the Covid isolation the group never regrouped and loads of material and kits were left at my house. This lap quilt is one of the items.

Description: The center flower patterned squares bring a brightness to this lap quilt. It was a fun pattern to put together even though it took a little extra time to get the flower blocks cut. Check out the quilting pattern of bees, which is a perfect match and the bees help pollinate our flower beds.

This quilt is made of five one yard pieces of fabric that I had in my stash. I had it all cut out and sewn together when I noticed that I had assembled the blocks incorrectly. I was so frustrated I just threw in a corner and took the rest of the day off. at our next coffee get together. I gave the whole "mess" to Leone Neyers, another quilter usually who is more than willing to take our scraps and make beautiful items with them. I told her to do whatever she wanted with it. Low and behold a week or so later she hands me a bag and in it I find the blocks all redone the correct way. I had to finish it.

This quilt is constructed from the Missouri Star Disappearing Pinwheel Illusion pattern. It isn't a pattern for the faint of heart. I fell in love with the photo in their magazine and had to make it. It involves making pinwheels from 10" squares. Then cutting the pinwheel blocks into nine pieces and rearranging them. The pattern directions were easy to follow. See if you can find the small pinwheel that rotates differently.

The Quilters at Kenwood Lutheran Church are always receiving donations of fabric. They meet weekly and put together quilts, most of which are donated to Lutheran World Relief.

This 83"x59" quilt has bright cheerful colors and butterflies with complementary yellows. It is hand tied with red crochet cotton and accented with hand binding. Butterflies often serve as a symbol of Christ's resurrection for us.

This quilt was made by the "Piecemakers" at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood, MN. We meet every Tuesday from 9:00 to 12:00. The quilt was cut, pieced, tied and sewn with smiling faces and lots of love and care by our group. All of our quilts are donated to shelters, food shelves, and within the community.

A prior member who started the "Piecemakers" quilting group was unable to complete quilt #1. Our group was able to finish it, and carry on her legacy.

Trinity quilters have met Tuesday mornings for decades sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief and community outreach.

I was attracted by the huge blossoms when visiting. A quilt shop in Alaska. A vision of flowers danced through my head and ended up in a plan for a wall hanging. The layout developed over a number of weeks and when I finally got to the piecing, it had become a gigantic flower garden. Thus the title "Miracle Grow"! The quilting was done to enhance the blossoms.

I was moved to donate something to help with the ELCAs world hunger program. I use much of my quilting to give to good causes.

This is a wall hanging, but could also sure as a lap quilt. It is 60"xx 60" and could be hung in any direction.

It was quilted with a longarm by me using multiple colors to enhance the flowers. Fully washable, hang or lay out to dry, press as needed.

Snuggle up with this cozy brightly colored calico quilt. It's 82" by 94", so perfect for a double bed or queen topper. The quilt is made of cotton calico print with polyester batting. It's machine sewn and hand tied. The bright red backing material has been brought to the front for the binding. Machine wash, gentle, dry on low heat.

Gethsemane Mission Sewing group meets monthly. Last year they donated 56 quilts to Lutheran world relief, as well as local, graduation gifts, and fire victims.

Grace Lutheran quilters are a group of 20 women who come together every Monday morning first for fellowship and coffee (after all we are Lutherans and mostly of Scandinavian heritage), we later move on to a variety of projects. We also attract individuals from the community to be part of our group. Everyone has a job in the process even non quilters. We provide quilts to several long term care facilities, an apartment complex for people at risk of homelessness, members of our church experiencing a challenging time in their life, our graduating high school seniors, and babies being baptized.

We donate 12 quilts to Lutheran World Relief each year and make wheelchair and walker bags. Recently we began making port pillows to place on seat belts to cushion the area where someone has a central line for infusion, usually for treatment of cancer. We deliver these to the infusion centers at Aspirus St. Luke's and Essentia. They are very appreciated.

This quilt is red white and blue, hand tied with yarn and measures 58"X 73".

At Bethlehem Lutheran we strive to improve. One of our talented quilters constructed the top of this quilt using STARS AND STRIPES. Two 'young ladies' in their 90's, lovingly placed a bottom sheet and batting to the measured size of the quilt. Great care was taken (discussion from 5 of us) to choose the "RIGHT" yarn color and where the yarn would be placed. Then came the "Coffee An'" time. With all that discussion, we needed a drink!....Of Coffee, of course! Only after Coffee An' that two brave persons took "to tying one on"... the yarn! This quilt was machine stitched to secure the borders. No one was deported to another country.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Quilters started as THE Ladies Aid Society in 1899. We meet every Thursday in the upstairs "Social Room" The size of personnel varies, depending on the weather or illness; some of us are getting older. Hope you make a ton of money for World Hunger !

This beautiful quilt has a rich brown and blue-grey background with brightly colored kaleidoscope octagons. The 57" by 76" quilt is called stack and whack which makes a unique block. It is made of 100% cotton with an 80/20 batting. It has been machine quilted and machine bound.

Ann Mans is a wonderful supporter of the hunger appeal, providing a quilt every year and working the event.

This beautiful quilts is full of flowers and butterflies surrounded by a White with vivid red accent pieces. The pattern is BQ5 by Maple Island quilts. The quilt is 54" by 72" and machine quilted and machine bound. It is made of 100% cotton with 100% cotton batting.

This Scrappy block quilt is 66" by 78". It is hand tied and machine bound. The quilters from First Lutheran in Brainerd have been meeting monthly for many years. They donate quilts to camps, locally, and to Lutheran world relief.

This 12" by 9 1/2" cutting board is handmade from cherry, walnut and maple. It is finished with food grade mineral oil. Knife not included.

Hand wash with hot soapy water; rinse and dry with a clean paper towel. Re-oil every 3 - 4 weeks or when the board appears dry. Do not soak in water.

Wooden cutting boards are not dishwasher safe. With proper care and treatment this board will last for generations.
