Named for the father of Georges and Daniel Daou, Soul of a Lion is the crown jewel of DAOU, and an emblem of their quest to produce unsurpassed Cabernet Sauvignon from the terroir of DAOU Mountain.

The 2020 vintage presents an alluring profusion of black cherry, mulberry and Oregon blackberry aromas with notes of leather, cigar box and dark chocolate. Hints of desert sage and creme de menthe accent the rich fruit. The palate is silky and voluptuous, delivering loads of currant, cassis, black raspberry and ripe cherry. Notes of fig and baking spice are underscored by earthy tones of dates and truffle. Mature, ripe tannins yield a weighty, velvety texture integrated with a limestone minerality and subtle oak. This vintage provided the perfect climate to achieve physiological ripeness and flavor development, resulting in a concentrated, dark and brooding expression of the variety. Blackberry, plum, African violet, and orange rind are complemented by a perfect touch of new French oak, which imparts notes of clove, vanilla, and a hint of char. The true magic of this wine--and the key to its tremendous longevity-- is the enthralling vivacity bestowed upon it by a perfectly harmonious yet sturdy backbone of acidity.

Showcasing a deep cherry red and magenta core, the nose of the 2020 Audacious expresses delicate red fruits of currant and strawberry, assisted by structured graphite, cassis and blackberry from the generous helping of Cabernet Sauvignon. In creating this Rhone-inspired white blend, every block and clone of the estate's Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette Blanche, and Grenache Blanc were blended to craft this white wine-it's perfection, embodying brilliance and elegance from the start. Harvesting the Marsanne in two picks, 10 days apart, allowed this varietal to feature varied nuances and layers of ripeness, which heavily influenced the complexity and brightness of SOPH's overall structure. Its golden, straw-yellow color welcomes you with a tremendously savory and bright nose, bursting with the aromas of yellow apple, pear, crisp white peach, lemon, nectarine, and mangosteen. A well-integrated touch of almond, vanilla, and spice smoothly reveals this wine's time in French oak (49% new) and concrete egg, adding to the luscious, full-bodied mid-palate. The 2021 Nines has become the most intriguing expression of Grenache from our estate, epitomizing the variety with its delicate opulence and serious concentration. Crafted thoughtfully each year, there is an incredible drive to the wine. It is alive and focused, flaunting a beautiful acidity that carries an obvious energy throughout. Raspberry, cranberry, wild strawberry, spice, dried herbs, dark red fruit and violet jump out of the glass, preparing you for what comes next. The medium-plus tannins are puckering at the front of the palate but lead into a velvety embrace. Despite its medium-plus to full body and considerable concentration of flavors, The Nines feels light on its feet as it glides across the palate with a noticeable resurgence of flavor on an impossibly long and complex finish. Grown in the Willow Creek District, grenache is an easy varietal to grow however it requires a lot of care and attention. The large clusters are hand manicured at least twice per growing season in order to make sure the fruit is concentrated in flavor and texture. The canopy is carefully managed to encourage color and tannin accumulation. In order to show the beauty, balance, and purity of fruit that their site has to offer, the fruit is largely destemmed and fermented in stainless, then aged in neutral barrels to limit oak influence. The resulting wine is bright and balanced with strong structure.

Hard Point started as a bronze sculpture found on a surprise birthday trip for owner, Rebecca, to Bozeman, Montana. Wandering through a small gallery, Rebecca's friends pointed out it looked nearly identical to her German Shorthair Pointer dog, Yadi. It was a pretty easy decision for her once she laid eyes on that beautiful piece that she wanted to incorporate it into one of her wine labels. Rebecca then carved and created a print out of the statue to come up with this label.

Tasting Notes:
The Grenache exudes pretty strawberry aromatics but with dark fruit flavors on the palate. The tannins are strong with a lengthy finish. We love the purity of fruit this wine offers

At Fulldraw, they meticulously pick, process, and ferment each varietal separately. By doing so, this allows them to blend an impeccably balanced wine among all three varietals each contributing something unique and special to the resulting blend. They are always surprised at how easily this blend comes together. This 2020 Chopping Block is a great representation of what the site contributes to all the varietals in one bottle-intense aromatics, bright lengthy finish, and finessed tannins.

Drawing from their love of cooking, the cleaver on the label currently resides in the knife block in their kitchen and gets put to work on a regular basis. It was custom made for them from a small artisan cutler in Georgia, Bloodroot Blades, which they randomly stumbled across. With its striking patina they thought it would look great on a label.

The Fulldraw Vineyards site poses many challenges to growing vines - especially for their Syrah. However, the resulting fruit is power packed with concentrated flavor, inky color, and an integrated chalky tannic structure. Canopy management is crucial to developing flavor and ripening their Mourvedre since the vines don't like to grow. The clusters are treated with the same care and attention as their Grenache.
