Since 1930, the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton (BGCD) has served as a beacon of hope and opportunity for youth & teens in Dayton. Each day, we serve young people, K-12, through structured, high-quality, and evidence based after-school and summer programs.
Our program framework-focused on academic recovery and success, health and well-being, good character and leadership, and life and workforce readiness-is delivered through a trauma-informed lens. Ultimately, our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We strive to break the cycle of generational poverty through education and youth development programs.
Over the last four years, Spark Great Futures has been transformational for our program quality and delivery. Due to past support at Spark, BGCD has enhanced STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) learning experiences, deepened the impact of our programs and increased the number of young people we can serve. But, data shows that youth in our community still have opportunity gaps, significant academic challenges, and higher rates of mental and physical health challenges. Support at Spark will support our initiatives to provide Club members with the tools and experiences they need to be Future Ready when they exit our Blue Doors.
