Katie Schumacher-Cawley '97 led Penn State Women's Volleyball to an NCAA National Championship victory this year, becoming the FIRST female head coach to win the title!

Her long career in athletics began as a Mighty Mac, where she excelled in basketball and volleyball, leading McAuley to state and national titles in volleyball. She earned the All-Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) honors in both sports, the 1996 Player of the Year distinction from The Southtown Star Newspaper and the 1997 Chicago Sun-Times Female Athlete of the Year distinction, among many awards and highlights. She went on to play at Penn State, helping lead the Nittany Lions to the school's first NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship in 1999 and earning three Big Ten Conference titles.
