"The Very Crowded Party Poodle Party"

The kindergarteners in Ms. Fisk's class explored the art of Vincent van Gogh by recreating his famous Sunflowers painting. Using markers, colored pencils, or crayons in shades of yellow, orange, and brown, they mimicked the color palette of the original masterpiece. After a class vote, they chose a blue background, blending two different shades of blue paint to create a fun, dynamic effect, along with a speckled yellow tabletop. Students learned about sunflowers and how there is even a country that dedicated the sunflower as its national flower: Ukraine. (Art dimensions: 28" x 40")

"Apple Tree" by Ms. Hagan's Sea Otters

Insired by Apple Tree I by Gustav Klimt, 1912. The kids took turns working on their collaboration in groups of two. They studied Klimt's painting for inspiration, selected brushes, and chose paint colors. Then they decided what and where to paint. After the paint dried, they took turns gluing sparkly jewels onto the canvas, as a final flourish!

Ms. Richmond's class used mixed media to create this springtime scene at the tidal basin. They tore blue napkins into wave-like strips and decoupaged them on poster board to create water. They used small pieces of silver washi tape to decorate the Washington monument and they ripped up pink tissue papers to festoon the trees with the cherry blossoms. Our class had so much fun creating this art, which promises to bring spring to your home all year long. This is a 24" square canvas with pre-installed hanging wire.

"Lightening Kitties Splatter #1"

This is a modern take on Jackson Pollock and his splatter technique. Each and every kid + Mr Travitz, learned a little bit about Jackson Pollock, his life and his art, and then contributed to the piece during an exciting (and cold!) afternoon. Signed on the back by all of the artists, this 24x24 canvas with colorful acrylic paint will brighten up any space.

Odysseus' Epic Adventure

Each artist chose a figure from the Iliad/ Odyssey that they learned more about through the Epic musical. They drew or traced the image onto foam and chose a paint color for their print (thus the almost but not quite alphabetical order which prioritized spreading out color choices). Some artists were lucky to have their first print work. Others had to experiment with the amount of paint and retrace the negative space to end up with a successful print. They all did an awesome job working with a challenging foam medium.

This fishing basket is one of a kind! It has been put together by a Murch parent, and an avid local fisherman. It has the quality equipment a family needs to go fishing, all set up and ready to go! The basket includes two different sets of rods and matching installed reels which can be used to catch a wide range of fish in the DC waters and surrounding areas. The heavier set with a 7' Ugly Stick rod and a very smooth, size 4000, Kastking reel, is suitable for catching Potomac catfish, carp and rockfish. It's been spooled with 20lb Beyond Braid. You can even use this set in the ocean. The lighter set with 6' rod and a size 2000 Kastking reel, is suitable for catching bass, shad (it's the season!), trout, and all sorts of sunfish, etc. It's been spooled with 8lb Yozuri monofilament. Terminal tackle for both rods is included, with swivels, weights (for the heavy rod), various lures, etc. There is also a fish holder and a fishing plier. All of this equipment nicely fits into the fishing backpack, also included. The shad run begins any day and waters of the DC will soon be full of running shad with all the larger fish that prey on them including from time to time some rockfish for the lucky anglers. Celebrate the championship-winning Murch Boys Cross Country Team with a fun run in Fort Reno after school on Friday, May 30, from 3:30 - 5:30.

These fierce competitors placed first of all of DC in October, and you can relive the fun by joining this after-school activity!

See if you can keep up, and try your hand at a few of their favorite drills (yes, even hill sprints!). After the run, we will enjoy gatorades, pizza, and popsicles in the park.

Both kids (3rd grade +) and adults are welcome to join, each participant will need a ticket. If a child comes without an adult, they will need to be self-dismissed or information on their pick up will need to be provided.

Celebrate the beginning of the next school year with Karaoke!

Party will take place on Saturday, August 23rd.

Hosts Jaime Horn and Mathew Harkins will provide: Karaoke machine, unlimited lyrics, and a safe space to belt out your favorite tunes.

Football fans, expats, and the soccer curious alike: get your ticket to watch the Champions League finals outside at the Carrs. Along with the game you'll get served plenty of grilled meats and veggies, snacks, and beverages.

The Champions League final is on May 31, at 3:00pm, with the party beginning at 2:30 and going to whenever the game ends (or later!).

Each adult attendee needs 1 ticket - kids are welcome, no tickets needed. We will have plenty of soccer related games set up for them and a babysitter.

Gather on a Saturday June 28 at 8pm for an hour of movement followed by tea, snacks, and wine. In the Jewish tradition, havdallah marks the end of Shabbat and the transition into the new week. Mark this time with movement and meditation among other Murch parents.

No experience is required. This is open to anyone seeking a fun and relaxing experience, all are welcome!
