Elaine (Moore) O'Grady and Andrew O'Grady have been serving Mount Saint Mary College and the community for decades. It began when they were students, and they remain integrally involved to this day: Elaine in the role of an employee, and Andrew through serving on various Mount committees, taking Mount interns under his wing, and giving guest lectures at the college. Elaine graduated from the Mount with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations in 1989 and later earned her MBA in 2008 from the Mount's School of Business. Andrew graduated in 1988 and later earned a Master's degree in social work at Adelphi University.
Elaine began working for the college in the Admissions Office in her senior year and has dedicated her entire professional working life to the Mount. She will be retiring at the end of the spring 2025 semester, seeing off her 37th class. She has also been a tireless advocate for students, listening to their concerns and mobilizing resources to address them. Her commitment to Mount students, in every role she has had, has been extraordinary.
She started in the Admissions Office and was promoted to Associate Director of Admissions in just one year. She worked in Admissions until 2001, when she became the Executive Vice President of Operations and Housing. She was integral in the construction of many buildings, including Sakac Hall and the College Courts renovation. She then took a bigger role in working directly with the students and ended her career as the Vice President of Students.
Andrew, LCSW began his professional career with Dutchess County Mental Health. He was then recruited by Saint Francis Hospital to oversee their outpatient clinic in Beacon, N.Y. In the year 2000, he was recruited by Mental Health America (MHA) of Dutchess County to oversee a transition of services from Dutchess County to MHA. After a dozen years in the role of Division Director, Andrew was hired as the CEO in 2012. He serves on several statewide and local boards. He is currently the president of the NYS Care Management Coalition and serves on the MHA's New York State Board of Directors. Locally, he serves on the MARC Foundation Board and the regional CBHS Board.
MHA of Dutchess County provides services primarily in Dutchess County, but also in Orange and Ulster Counties. The agency has supported housing, addiction residential services, care management for adults and children, veterans services, homeless services, peer services and HCBS/CORE services. The agency provides children and family support as well as CASA services and community education. Under Andrew's leadership, the agency has more than doubled the number of staff, quadrupled the annual budget, and added many other properties and programs.
Andrew has always made time for the Mount. He has been a regular guest speaker at large scale college psychology events and a guest lecturer in the Psychology and human services classes. He also serves on the College Advancement Committee and attends as many of the fund-raising functions as he can.
Elaine and Andrew were married in the Dominican Center Chapel in August of 1991. Their son Ryan earned a bachelor's and master's in Business from the Mount and is now working for Apple in their Apple Pay Business Development Department in Manhattan. Their daughter Kayla earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at the Mount and is now in her third year of teaching eighth grade Special Education in Hyde Park.
