The Joy of Art! Program

Art is an important factor in rebuilding lives. It creates an inviting and calming environment that is therapeutic for patients, staff and visitors. Patients get the opportunity to express their emotions through creativity, stimulate their mind and feel joy during their hospital stay. The Joy of Art! program hosts exhibitions throughout the year and supports art groups and activities that helps patients feel engaged with the community. Art is integrated into patient care, providing holistic patient-centered healing.

January Artist: Sarah Grote

I am a photographer, painter, and author located in central Connecticut. My primary focus is on equine art, with an additional focus on flora and fauna and portraiture. I particularly love black & white photography, inspired by my Dad's photography growing up. I also love working with other artists - creative connections are awesome forces that create greatness and breakthroughs! I always try to encourage others to share their creativity and artistry. About twelve years ago I was able to build up the courage to go on my artistic journey which started with photography, and then painting. In 2022 I wrote a book, and this year published a book collaboration about Connecticut equine rescue organizations.
