"Repaired Maple Bowl"
7 x 13 1/2 x 13 1/2
The bowl was turned in 2018 from a maple log downed during a stream restoration project on the campus of Virginia State University. It was one of a small number of bowls we saved to keep. Years later, it split in two when I dropped it on a concrete floor and repaired in 2024.
American / French, born in 1950. I have worked with my hands all of my life. To make something, and later to make the next version more aesthetically pleasing than its predecessor, can occupy a life.

Alicia Dietz
"Beyond the Horizon"
20" x 18" x 2"
Live edge walnut and artisan ultra high performance concrete are combined to create a natural horizon. Because of the nature of both materials, this is a quiet but layered piece that speaks to dichotomy, cooperation, and celebrating each other's differences. Easily hung on the wall.
Alicia Dietz designs and builds custom furniture with the craftsmanship to last a lifetime. Specializing in solid wood and artisan-grade concrete, Alicia often combines the two disparate materials, creating a harmony that is reflective of her process and collaborative style. Working in partnership with the materials, designers, and clients, pieces are uniquely designed and built to fit both space and lifestyle.
