Ambivalent Workshop is a tiny business with mostly tiny things, including jewelry, home goods, and toys, all handmade by PS34 parent Amanda Gale.

Gale spent a lot of years creating and installing big sculptures, craftwork, welding, and other fabrications. She's now relatively content creating much smaller things (aside from her rapidly growing children). She lives and works mostly in Brooklyn and occasionally in the Catskills…just like all those other artists.

Oona Ratcliffe is an artist working in the mediums of drawing and painting. She comes from the Northern California town of Bolinas and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York with her three daughters and two cats.

Oona's landscape and topography luscious color and scale shifting paintings on canvas are stripped down in this recent work to drawn line contemplations, interactions of edges and visual planes, shape forms within visual spaces arms arm length distance eyes and brain. Focusing particularly on the botanical (house plants and bouquets of foliage and flowers) Oona explores the vertiginous tangles, intersections, edges, jutting abutments, and the chaotic and controlled elements within the radius of sight and from her immediate domestic sphere, her kitchen table or desk. Continual line drawings veering visually towards elegant yet awkward blind contour, these drawings are an intimate demonstration of attention giving. The artist also intends for the drawings to be read as invitations to look, see, draw, democratizing shift in art making to the everyone every day.
