Workshop Registration

Eric Goldschmidt
"Vessels as a Tool for Growth"
Flameworking
June 23 - 27, 2025 (5-day workshop)

Through the course of instructor demonstrations and guided, hands-on practice time, students will use the vessel as a form to expand their skills with both hollows and solids in borosilicate glass on the torch. Goblets, lidded vessels, and open vessel forms will be covered in this skill building course.

Making vessels requires the ultimate control of the material. By learning to control vessel, cup, and foot forms, students will increase their efficiency and accuracy with all forms they may wish to pursue. A comprehensive variety of cup, stem, and foot forms, as well as different styles of attachments and color applications will be covered.

This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Monday through Friday, with additional studio time Monday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm. Materials for participating in the course are included. If you have specific colors you are interested in working with please bring them with you.

Since 1996, Eric has devoted his efforts to practicing and developing his work having learned while studying and assisting with many of the world's most talented glass artists. These experiences have given him a vast array of techniques and inspirations from which to draw. He combines this wealth of knowledge with his own interests in the subtle energies of the natural world, delicate forms, and the capture of raw human emotions to create original new works.

Eric held the position of Resident Flameworker at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass for 6 years. He then worked with Arribas Brothers Company where he designed, developed, and produced works at Walt Disney World. He returned to The Corning Museum of Glass in the spring of 2008, as Supervisor of Properties of Glass Programs. In this role he develops demonstrations that help to educate, inspire, and spread the word of the very fascinating world of glass to hundreds of thousands of visitors per year.
