Madeline Rile Smith
"Some Like It Hot:
Flameworking Fundamentals and Beyond"
Flameworking
June 9 - 13 (5-day workshop)

This class teaches an array of techniques for beginners and for those with experience looking to enhance their skills. We will cover the fundamentals of this incredibly versatile glass process, developing a solid foundation for success. We will be working with borosilicate glass, a very durable material that is well suited for creating wearables, sculpture, vessels, and other glass items.

Several possibilities of color application will be covered, with a range of methods that can be applied to jewelry, marbles, and more. Small sculptural objects such as botanical forms and flowers will also be covered in this class. We will also cover the "networking" technique, which gives students the ability to create larger sculptures in practically any form!

Instruction will also include guidance and problem-solving support for individual projects. Let's bring your glass ideas into reality!

This workshop is open to all levels. Beginners are welcome!

This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Monday through Friday, with additional studio time Monday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm. Materials included.
