Our most popular silent item is back! Your pet will have its picture grace all of Anderson Humane's donation boxes at over 80 locations in the tri-city area for one quarter of the year!
Quarters defined as January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December.
Anderson Humane receives weekly transports of adoptable animals from under-resourced shelters in other states. Put on your superhero cape and be on the scene when we receive one of these transports of puppies and dogs. This is a moving front-row seat to the process of homeless animals begin the journey of finding their forever home!
Scheduling options will be coordinated by Anderson Humane's Director of Animal Pathways.Must be 16 years of age or older.

Anderson Humane's Lead Veterinarian, Dr. Rachel Kantola, is both Elite Fear Free and Low-Stress Handling Certified. Spend two hours shadowing Dr. Rachel as she makes her clinic rounds with our shelter animals. Then get all your questions answered over lunch. Great for college applications, aspiring veterinarians, or anyone fascinated with the life-saving work veterinarians perform.
Appropriate for ages 16 & up.
Want an animal to visit a sick friend? Would you like to send a dog for children to read to? Perhaps treat residents in a memory care facility to an animal interaction?
Anderson's Healing Paws Program is a volunteer-based comfort animal therapy program providing positive pet experiences to children and adults throughout our community. Healing Paws volunteers and their pet partners often visit schools, libraries, rehabilitation facilities, and senior communities.
Anderson Humane currently has over 50 certified Healing Paws teams serving over 900 people annually. With this package you can send a Healing Paws Therapy Animal to visit the location of your choice!
Visit location must be within 25 mile radius of our South Elgin facility (60177).
Healing Paws Therapy Visit must be used by 4/5/26.
Take part in an amazing wildlife release as we return songbirds, ducklings, raccoons, opossums, or squirrels back to their natural habitat. What a wonderful chance to watch a rehabilitated animal be freed back to the wild!

Species Release Months
Redeemable during the 2025 season only. We will try to provide multiple release opportunities and ask that you be patient with us as we schedule these releases.You will be given a one-week notice of release time/place, which may be on a weekend.You will need to provide your own transportation. Releases could be an hour-plus drive away.

Ever wonder what goes into rehabbing wild animals? If you're fascinated by nature, here's an up-close look at what goes on during wildlife season at Anderson Humane. Work side-by-side with our Wildlife team as they care for squirrels, raccoons, songbirds, raptors, amphibians, and more. Learn how they prepare animals for release and care for various species of injured and orphaned animals.
Experience lasts 4 hours.
Good for 2025 wildlife season (May-October).
Ages 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Enrichment is finding ways to let "dogs be dogs" - and "cats be cats" - in healthy, safe, and appropriate ways. It's more than a boredom buster; it helps improve quality of life, can reduce behavioral challenges, and supports the mental and emotional health of the animals in our care. You'll learn how we provide enrichment opportunities and get fun, easy, and inexpensive tips you can use at home with your pet!

Enjoy an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Anderson Humane. Interact with adoptable animals and hear their stories - how they came to us and the care we provided. Learn how we conduct large-scale rescue missions such as our Envigo Beagle rescue which was the 3rd largest in the nation. Learn how our behaviorists and enrichment teams work with animals to maximize adoption potential. You'll leave with a new appreciation for shelter staff and the lifesaving mission they perform!
