From the artist: "Through this work I was inspired by the shapes of brain synapses. Knowing that Alzheimer's Disease is directly related to a loss of synapses, I wanted to integrate a theme of hope in the work through the addition of forget-me-not flowers and lilies. These floras are often used as symbols for memory, new beginnings, and inspiration. Through abstracting the work, I let the shapes continue - another metaphorical choice used to explain the ever-growing research being conducted in the search for a cure for Alzheimer's Disease. This piece represents scientific and human triumph through the quest for knowledge, renewal, and hope."
