Based on inspiration from the book "Extra Yarn" by Mac Barnet about a little girl using extra yarn to transform her bland community into a place of brilliance, beauty & warmth our Elementary 1 (EL1) children created "masterpieces" depicting how they fit in their world and how they will make it a better place! The children's plates (1st grade) are a drawing of their family, the bowls (2nd graders) have words describing their family and the mugs (3rd graders), are the children's future dreams and goals! Both the book and the children's art celebrate a child's ingenuity and the ability to change the world around them. Special thanks to Catherine Lapping, our parent volunteers, teachers and students!
